Hello everyone, my name is Martin and I am a new user here(A confused one!)
I've been a console junkie for quite some time playing forza and GT, but I'm looking to get into more serious racing sims, on the pc.
My questions are: where to start with GTR2? Is there full install addons for this game? (like the sweet 2011 addon for RBR) If not, what would get me started in GTR2? what are the must have mods to get?
I have a Porsche wheel turbo S w/ H shifter, and hopefully will work with this game, or a mod. Also would be using eyefinity(3 screens setup), if a mod exist for that.
I've been googling a little and came across a power and glory pack, is this what I'm looking for?
The game being quite old, I'm guessing there are graphics mods also?(just asking, I know graphics are not everything! but some youtube videos does show some great looking GT2 races so I figured I'd ask, just in case there is one.
Any pointers on where to look to get me started would be really appreciated. I did come across a site with tons of mods but there's like 17 pages of different mods, hopefully there are some "big mods pack" that I did not see.
Thank you very very much,
Martin

Good choice, madzaw. There are some other wonderful race sims but, for me, GTR2 is the best all around. Beats eight to five anywhere. As for starter, why don't you play it "raw" at first? Default cars and tracks alone would take a lot of fun times to explore. When you're ready to "cook" it, there are many lying around the web..too many, even. Thankfully, most of them are decent enough. Suggest you drop by NoGrip web, as they host some of the best addons for GTR2. I posted a thread about Japan Super GT series in this forum a while back. You might want to check it out.

Thank you for the reply,
I guess I could play it raw like you mentioned, does it support H shifter and clutch and eyefinity right off the bat? edit: nevermind that question, I just installed it and it works without hiccups, what a great engine, it's old, but it works great, I'm glad I decided to go with GTR2.
Thank you for the mod pointer, this is actually the site I was referring to, where there's like a million mods(most of them seems to be new cars?), so I'm guessing there is no "All new tracks and cars included" type of add-on to start with?
I will look around to find the mod(japan super gt) you are referring to, thank you again.

Use guod's link to get the GT500 package, you'll need 5 days to get it from nogrip due to their 100mb/day download policy. But you still need to go there if you want the GT300 package, though. Unless doug has it stashed somewhere around here, too. Far as I recall, there's no package that gives you both a racing series cars and tracks. But with a little patience you can get almost all you want from those websites.

madzaw, just wait until you are doing long distance running and the marbles from the tyres build up around the track aswell seriously amazing feeling adding that extra element to it, just remember not to get on the marbles though

Matter of fact... http://simhq.net/downloads/motorsports/g...le_for_GTR2.rarWe had a terrific series with the cars in 2009. Here is the promo poster I did for it. Why haven't we had more GTR2 races since? Because we can't get more than 6-8 people to show up. The GTR2 disk became difficult to acquire... we've tried.

Thank you so much, very helpful community here, Glad to have joined. Unbelievable how this game is beautiful and works great, the sounds are crazy good, being a game from 2006, a lot of new sims should look back to this when making their own. Thanks again everyone Well said madzaw, GTR2 is still the benchmark for modern sims. It got so many things absolutely right and contains features that haven't made it into much more recent titles. In terms of an immersive single player experience nothing comes close. You made a great choice. The SGT stuff is amazing. I also had some of the best sim races ever with the Lotus Exige mod : http://www.nogripracing.com/details.php?filenr=2642 Even without any addons the stock content is enough to keep you busy for a long time. The Lister Storm still remains one of my favourite sim cars ever.
