My wife's Macbook Air just got a nice little "crack" on the lower-third of the LCD screen, about 0.25 inches from the left side. I can't feel it with my finger/nail, but it shows up when lighted up against a background. The crack looks like a spider-web, or like one you'd get from a car windshield stone chip. We suspect either the 2-year old dropped a toy on the screen, or maybe tried to close the Macbook with a toy caught inside.

I was wondering how to go about getting this thing repaired. Will Apple cover this repair since we just got it last August? Or will I have to pay for it? And is it just a simple screen-swap, or will it take days/weeks?

That sucks. As the father of a 6 yr-old, a 3 yr-old and a 2 month-old I can relate.

My daughter (the 3 yr-old) put a nice crack in our living room TV when we refused to let her watch Dora... Most items of value/fragility occupy the top of dressers, cabinets, hutches etc in my house

I'd be surprised if Apple agreed to pay for it unless you paid for a "no questions asked" repair warranty.

Can't speak as to whether it'd be just a screen-swap... sounds like it's going to be $$$ either way
