Hi guys, Pobs and Mr Jelly will confirm that, months ago, I was having problems with 1.28E and more specifically running OAW with it. As Mr Jelly discovered and announced in another thread recently, Xp has a strange knack of not allowing file migration from one folder to another, even if Administrator settings with the OS are set correctly. It's a weird anomaly that other people seem to have been trying to correct on forums I have found everywhere. As a result I deleted EAW because it did not function properly in my rig. Anyway, that all said, and new fresh install done, I was trying to get EAW 1.28E running again, and spent almost 2.5hours messing around with it yesterday, following instructions on different threads where I could find them, and nothing to really did it. My problem was that running Xp I found could run the game once to generate an .INI, to stop the installation asking for the disc again or spitting up the 7217 back at me. It drove me bonkers......and I am already half 'out to lunch' anyway It was only Pobs kind help (as alwasy!) that also uncovered that I should have created my own 'Savedata' file to help in the process.....something I would otherwise never have sussed. I realised that I couldn't be the only person struggling (to a lesser or greater extent with this) with this, and found there were no set instructions anywhere for a noob or interested party to find out how to go about things. So, I wondered if you guys, who kindly put this 1.28E together for us all to enjoy, would be kind enough to create a 'sticky' for easy access to some install instructions please? Thanks in advance for effort in this way Col.

I know you are not going to believe me, but those instructions didn't work for me Jelly. Hi, if they dont work, what kind would work?? Maybe you could write the one that would work?? Probably its better if someone who have problems with such stuff write the instruction. Greetings, Knegel

Hi Ralf, Sorry but if what I am doing doesn't work, then there's no point me writing instructions for others, yes? That's just nonsense Ralf! Col.

Nate, I know things can be frustrating... I've had 1.28E working on my XP machine all along and never had a problem. What I did to start was to take a standard install of EAW and make a copy of the game and save it in a separate folder then uninstall the original then open regedit, and, search and destroy all references to EAW in the regestry. Once that was done I close regedit make a new EAW folder and update to 1.28e. I made an original EAW disc a while back that has 1.0, 1.2, etc. etc. so I could have everything from Great Shot to DAW in a separate folder and not have to go through multiple installs. Anyway, 1.28e works with XP. I think it may be that your regestry and instals may be causing a problem. All of my screenies and on line flights (not since my drive crash a few months ago, I'll get back on GR after the new year guys) were done with it. I reinstalled XP and EAW after I put in my new drive and haven't had any problems. Oh, I use OAW in every step of my skinning tests. So I can put in Desert or Northern Europe and any skin without a hitch. I hope you can get the problems ironed out. IM

Thanks Mike....appreciate the effort there.
Will make a notepad file of it, and keep it just in case.
I found a back-up folder of working install from the beginning of the year.
Once I had copied that over, everything went like a dream.
In many ways its good to have the old girl back.
Cheers
Nate
