12/12/2011 Tampa Firefighters to host barbecue and raffle fundraiser for injured U.S. Marine Nick Battles, the 19-year-old son of Tampa Firefighter/Paramedic Justin Battles, wanted nothing more than to be a Marine just like his father. Unfortunately, he was seriously injured during a combat simulation on his final day at boot camp that left him paralyzed from the neck down. Although the Marines are paying for his medical care at a hospital in South Carolina, his family is enduring expenses associated with traveling to be with him as he heals.
Please join the Tampa Firefighters for a barbecue and raffle fundraiser on
Saturday, December 17 at the
Tampa Firefighters Museum (720 East Zack Street)
from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.
Donations can be directed to Tampa Firefighters Charities, 3116 North Boulevard, Tampa, FL 33603.
Event flyer and details at
http://tampafirefighters.com/battles/battles.pdfRecruit Battles was injured during training in Parris Island, and he is paralyzed from the neck down. He is currently in a hospital in South Carolina. The fundraiser is to assist with family expenses (travel, etc.). I know some of you are in the Tampa area and wanted to send an invitation to stop by for some BBQ this Saturday... Good BBQ and for a good cause.
