Remapping my keys and running into a problem.

Lase = CTRL on keyboard.

In options CTRL = "Lase to set waypoint"

When I map that function to a joystick, it doesn't lase.

What am I missing?

I'm not trying to create a waypoint, I want to lase a target. When I press mapped button it doesn't do anything - there is no text in bottom left corner either.

Actually I unmapped all of buttons. JoyButton2 lases target. It's unmapped, but lases target. And it's position is perfect for dynamic lead, not lasing. Sigh....

We changed things a bit. There are now two new hotkeys for "lase waypoint" and "lase marker," which by default are Ctrl and Shift, respectively (no mouse click or joystick buttons). Also, the hotkey must be held down for about a second before releasing it to activate the command. The color of the icon is yellow during the first second, and then becomes red to show that it is "armed."

This was done to prevent unintended use.

...buttons #1...4 are still somewhat hard-coded. Eventually we will make all buttons configurable, but for the moment you'll have to live with it, I'm afraid.

dizzy I see....well...That would explain my frustration. Follow on question - what are they purma-mapped to?

1 = shoot
2 = lase
3 = ?
4 = ?

1=shoot
2=lase
3=palm switch/dynamic lead/lay
4=mag toggle

further on it gets more complicated as buttons are recycled quite a bit for different vehicles

Thanks. I guess I'll have to adapt vs this 'feature'

Hardcoded to what extent? I've had no trouble using CH ControlManager software to program the buttons as I wish.
I don't change any assigments in-game.
I didn't like button 3 as palm switch, so programmed the stick to press "p" with button 4 (the pinkie one at the base of the stick.) Now my button 3 is re-programmed as period and comma (using the hotas' shift function) to operate the T-72 TC's cupola.

It all seems to work fine. What kind of stick do you have, Sim?

To the extent that you can't change the assignment of these buttons to their functions, unless you use a joystick programming/key mapping tool that intercepts the signals and converters them into other commands before they reach the application layer with Steel Beasts. In other words, there is no solution in Steel Beasts to change the function of these first four buttons. Yet.
