What O/S?
i had that problem when I moved to Windows 7, and when I re-did my Windows XP.
FRAPS is uncompressed, but it has a Codec Signature in the AVI.
I was recording FRAP AVIs in Windows 7, then rebooting Back to A fresh Windows XP install and couldn't figure out why the FRAPs AVI would cause a Every Editing App (Adobe Premiere 6.5, Premiere Pro 2.0, After Effects and So On), to crash out every time i selected the file, and why no other program besides maybe Virtual dub or VLC would play it back.
The Solution, I think was to Install FRAPs in Windows XP as well, to install the Codec Signature or VFAPI or whatever the AVI had embedded in it.
Also, I left Windows Movie Maker for Expression 4 (VC-1 WMV > Regular WMV, also faster on newer machines)
