About an hour ago actually.. biggrin

Hopped on a multiplayer server to do some BS2 testing and had a blast. Saw lots of people come and go..I think there might have been some problems with the spawn points for the A-10s in some cases.

It took me about 10 minutes to figure out how to get all the Ka-50 systems started and the avionics up and running. I took off and realized I couldn't get my outer and inner pylons to arm. Took me 15 minutes of hovering in place to figure out I didn't have the Weapons System switch up. I had the weapons ARM switch up..but forgot about the Weapons System switch on the right sub-panel.. Grr...

Worked my way up the valley in the mission toward an enemy FARP that had been pretty much worked over for the previous hour by other MP folks. I did manage to kill a few ZSU-23s and a T-80U. While hovering behind a small hill I was searching with my Shkval and saw some tracers overfly my canopy. Backed off a few hundred meters and popped up again to search for what was shooting at me when I heard the "tink tink tink" of bullets hitting me. My right engine crapped out immediately, hydraulic failure, and I was able to crawl forward just enough to get some lift to set down on my belly with my systems intact.

I deployed the dust protectors to try to salvage my good engine and then reduced my collective to let the rotor RPM build back up. I was still at a mid weight for fuel but had a lot of Vikhrs and a full load of rockets. Wondering if I could perhaps dump enough weight to get airborne again and maybe get some tranlational lift to get me to base (remember those old LB2 days?)..I dumped my rocket pods, which seemed to go fine.

But then I went to dispose of my Vikhrs and forgot those just jettison by firing straight ahead. Which tore my wings off and reduced my aircraft to just its torso. cool

I opened my door since I was still alive. Then decided to eject.

Interested to know what killed me, I walked up to the top of the hill which took about 10 minutes or so. After looking for a few minutes..sure enough I spotted the truck mounted ZSU on the other side of the FARP which had peppered me..

I was wishing for a JTAC radio and designator since there were other A-10 pilots in the mission..LOL..

I was going to respawn in another Black Shark to go take out the truck but the mission reset due to the mission settings on the server (something like a couple hours per mission). Lots of fun and enjoyed chatting with those that came through the mission.

thumbsup

Wow, great AAR and screenshots! Just curious though - I don't have BS2 yet (will do as soon as my new computer arrives!), but I know in BS1 the Vikhrs wouldn't arm when jettisoned - they'd just hit the ground and send up a small plume of dust instead of exploding. Has this been changed? I had a similar thing happen to me recently (offline) and only made it home because I was able to jettison everything safely while on the ground, and then hastily lift off with my one remaining engine.

There's a cockpit switch on the front/centre panel that governs whether or not the ordnance will be armed when jettisoned. I only know this because I spent a large part of yesterday re-reading the manual. smile

Nice job of story telling, BeachAV8R!

I've tried several times to get my ejected pilot to walk around, but no luck.
How did you get him to move? Joystick, mouse, WASD keys????

Arrow keys, I believe.

Main joystick axes will move the pilot, too.

There's more to life after ejection than walking around aimlessly. You can actually get into UAZ's and drive them. It even has a shiftable transmission and a good physics model. There's no cockpit, though, it's all from 3rd person. Do a search in the official forums and you should find some instructions pretty quick.

Also, there's a mod based off this that allows you to drive all the vehicles. Apparently the AI in armed vehicles will still take care of gunnery for you, so you can actually engage in battle as a tank or a SAM in the DCS world.

Bet you didn't know that, did ya? biggrin

It would be very cool if you could get picked up by someone driving a vehicle (or a rescue helo) and get taken back to base to walk to a new helo or airplane. biggrin
