well, i havnt tried his stick yet, but the problem i have with the warthog stick is the thing when you go to the bottom/top left, bottom/top right. Or lets say, when you round and round with ur joystick, theres a hack. Like showed in the picture below, is this on every joystick? I mean, warthog is supposted to be some type top of the line stuff and i dont know if this is something worth calling top of the line if they dont have a joystick that can go round and round smootly?

The warthog has a 'clunk' when going through it's centre position. Most sticks have something like that as they are mounted on gimbals and you usually feel the transition as you move pressure to different springs while going through the centre position.

Obviously you are new to this kind of hardware as well as flight simming so I would suggest you pick up one of the games you are interested in and just fly wink

The stick is fine and better than most options out there.

Its not the center position im worried about. That doesnt irritate me at all. Its the corners as shown on the picture, when transitioning to that point. It feels like going over a bump with a car, with other words: doesnt feel right.

OK, I know what you mean. I just gave it a go on mine and yes, when I move the stick around in a circle around the extremities I can feel it at each corner.

That will be because internally the plate that restricts movement is like that. I have had mine for a long time and I had to try it to remember what you were talking about.

It is not noticed in flying. From flying ww2 through jets I haven't done any maneuvers that have shown it up so jump in a game and use it, if you can feel that you have probably done something to introduce a stall or a spin or something you don't want smile

I do use an extender so for me I really have to move it a long way to experience that but honestly, I never remember encountering it in any game without the extension.

Well, ive been flying in battlefield three, and most of the user are using keyboard+mouse there so they do all kind of #%&*$#. And that forces me to go to that area quite often. Thats why im wondering, is there any other joystick that doesnt have that issue? Since it feels like every joystick should have this issue, since this one is one of the absolute best there is.

I would suggest that you are pushing the stick farther than you need to. I have not used mine for bf3 but I would be surprised if it requires you to push the stick to the corner extremities to fly properly.

I think you could do the flying you want to do without moving the controls that far. There are issues with anything. I have owned the popular sticks, e.g. warthog, CH and g940. The hog wins imho for simulators _but_ if you were going to buy a stick for just bf3 then I would be happy with my logitech extreme 3d pro which i did buy specifically for bf3 on another computer.

In real life if you were to move a stick to the extremes all the time where that "catching" would be an issue... well you wouldn't be alive very well. Simply put if that's an issue for you then you aren't flying the plane properly.

If a flight sim requires you to move the stick like that to perform certain maneuvers then that flight sim is NOT EVEN CLOSE to being realistic and trying to make it seem as such by even bothering to use a decent stick is probably going to be a complete failure.

I haven't played BF3 (and especially after reading this thread I don't really intend to) but from what I can tell the game was designed for fast action mouse+keyboard (FPS type) of action and not for realism. As a result you may be putting yourself at a disadvantage by trying to use a joystick with it.

It's a real shame that they make these games with lifelike graphics and amazing scenery only to dumb-down the game play by simplifying and butchering the physics of it all. I suppose that's because today's generation grew up on consoles and PC game manufacturers are trying to reproduce that.

Well, by playing battlefield it seems like ur using joysticks the way it isnt supposted to be used, i dont know if you guys have had any issues with the quality of the TM Hotas Warthog, but i feel the joystick beeing more and more loose for every day i play with it. Is this something you have problems with?

Is there something specific that feels loose, e.g. is the stick starting to turn when it shouldnt? The springs are not working right, or something else?
