Went through a course with a guy named McHale, and he was in the Navy.

When I was in the Army we had a guy with the name #%&*$# in our squad. Good buddy of mine. When we trained MOUT at Hammelburg and met some US army guys they begged him to sell him his name tags. In the end he traded half a dozen for a case of beer.

While not on the same level as the above, there was a guy in my basic training unit (of Vietnamese descent) whose last name was Dang. Sure enough, this one drill sergeant of ours, whenever he saw him, loved to go right up to him and yell out "DANG!!!!!!!!"

Funny thing is about a year-and-a-half later, when I was in a dining facility in Iraq, I came across him again. We were in entirely different units, and the base I was at was not the one to which I was assigned. Small world the Army can be sometimes.
