I don't know guys... i try and keep an open mind with change or "progress'... but to me the new Xbox 360 dashboard update is not only confusing as hell, but just plan rediculous... just look at how many steps, windows you have to open to get some where?

IE: on the game page, under new releases is DiRT3... now i had Dirt3 back when released, bought a few of the DLC packs etc etc... but eventually traded it in because I couldn't get a comfortable wheel setting. So I go to the Dirt 3 page and bump right... theres no place that tells you how much it is, or to buy it via Games on Demand... you open another screen to see all the DLC packs... just way to confusing... i got a headache and had to take aspirin.... seriously.

and then what happened to seeing all your friends in one nice row... now you go into the start up screen, select friends and Then you'll see anyone on... but not anyone not on... and all those premium themes... like my BF3 theme which had all my friends standing in front of a military vehicle... gone... the theme is still there but just the background... and now finding TV shows and movies... terrible.

and isn't amazing how the whole format looks to almost DEMAND you by and use a Kinetc device... no thx M$...

just terrible, what a step back wards IMO.

It's a lot faster than that sluggish last system, so I'm ok with it for the most part. I use the Xbox button and mini-menu for checking my friends list, that graphical page is just too slow.
Those beacon things sure do pop up a lot. Kind of deceptive too, what if that person ISN'T looking for someone to play ____ but the beacon says they are? It creates confusion. They still need to give people a "show offline" option that can stay in place so you don't have to manually set it every time you get on if you're just doing some SP and don't want to get invites to MP games. There's no privacy on Live if you don't work for it.

Personally, my favorite system was the original with the tabbed blades you could quickly run through. Straight forward, easy to navigate. They should give you the option to use at least the appearance of an older system.

i tried last nite:

i said "Xbox, remove dashboard update" and was told it was an unrecognizable command.

The 2 apps i was using during beta testing are now outdated and listed under coming soon.... roflmao..

I borrowed a Kinect from a friend to play around... it was fun for a minute or two.....

"These are not the friends your looking for.... <waves hand to change tabs>"

So far I would have to say that I don't mind the change. Of course my simple mind is very easy to please. WinkNGrin

I never really spend a lot of time on the dashboard to have a very strong opinion either way, to be honest. Like Raw commented, I too do most of my navigating through the guide button (friends list, messages, etc.) I think the only time I really use the dashboard for more than a few minutes is either when a new update has been made, like now, or if I'm browsing through the new arcade games and demos.

I do agree however that it appears they are trying to puch Kinect on people, which is prett bogus. I actually have a Kinect, but I also have a 5 year old, which makes it easy to justify. Of course he loves it but really useless for the hardcore gamer IMO. I will admit that the voice recognition is very cool and being able to search for things by voice command is pretty slick but not sure it justifies the Kinect price tag.

yeah, its pleasant change for Kinect/Remote Controll owners, the controller not so much.

At least the "Mini Guide" is still here for me to access friends and stuff.

it is pretty much the same thing.

last dash had vertical left vertical scrolling menu, 1 row horizontal tiles.

new dash is horizontal top side scrolling menu, main tile surrouned by smaller subtiles

I'm not too crazy about it.

About the only feature I like is that it now tells you which games your friends are playing when they boot up a game. I like that feature quite a bit. Aside from that, I agree that it seems a bit more complicated. I really kind of liked the look of the last one.

My son's have been using my log in so I haven't had that much time on it to really look it over. Quick peak looked okay but that was just looking, not navigating.

If anyone has sent me a game invite and I didn't accept that's why WinkNGrin

ya it's there... guess if you own it already, nothing shows there...

BTW do like the roaming profile and cloud saves now... biggest beef is the friends thing... if you have 2 or 3 online thier avatar is there but no name on who they are till you move over to them... I want to see all friends online and what there playing... like before.

The original "blade" guide was my favorite also. Everything since then has been crap.

I'm pretty indifferent. I don't usually explore around too much anyway, so I just go straight to the game. What I have played with is alright, but nothing I'd say I'm impressed with.

How do you remove a profile on this new layout? I was looking around under system preferences and can't find it?
