!SPOILER ALERT!

Click to reveal..
I finally finished Mass Effect 2 and I was just curious as to how many of you who finished the game were able to upgrade the Normandy before the final attack? I didn't realize 'til during the attack that the various ship upgrades may have prevented several KIA's. I watched almost half of my team drop dead one by one after each attack, and you can imagine my disappointment. I commit to my choices during these types of games, and only half of my team is still alive, but that was one helluva grim mistake on my part...

Poor Garrus...

I did. All goodies in by the time I finished it, but didn't finish all the side-quests. I didn't know about that KIAs, though Garrus helped me kill that evil guy... or was that ME1?

I had all upgrades as well. The only person I lost was Jack, who I didn't really like anyways.

Yeah, the ship upgrades are instrumental for the survival of your crew. I did all of my upgrades but still lost one person. However, the loyalty of the character and whether you're renegade/paragon also has an influence on who lives and who dies.

I honestly don't recall who on my team died or didn't die, it's been too long, but I'm pretty sure I got as many of those upgrades as were available to me, so it was probably the minimum.

You know, it says a lot about a video game, or any other type of interactive (or passive) entertainment that can draw you into a story and/or the universe it's based on to such a degree that you feel so strongly about the fictional relationships between the main character and the various supporting characters, and when a character suffers or expires prematurely it actually affects you beyond the game itself. I was genuinely upset that so many characters were killed at the end of the game, and it was directly connected the the choices I made during the game. I feel responsible, and while I know it's entirely fictional I still feel like I failed each character for letting it happen, as if it actually happened.

Anyway, this has got to be bad for (Shaun) Shepard when I pick up where I left off in Mass Effect 3...wish me luck.

What a coincidence - I'll probably start ME 2 this weekend (after having it for about a year). I just kept getting side-tracked as new games came out, but December and January will be months of financial austerity for me so this is the perfect time to finally play it. That and I pretty much finished Skyrim.

Don't forget to get all of the DLC's for ME 2, especially "The Arrival" which will tie in directly to ME 3.

That's the DLC with Charlie Sheen, but it's fairly low-budget.

I so want to play this... but the FOV sucks SO HARD in it. It's so bad it is unplayable. > : (
Anyone that forces people to play an shooter in 65 FOV should be lined up and shot.

The FOV wasn't a problem for me, but I did a quick Google search to find a solution and it seems that adjusting the FOV will break the camera angle during dialogue, so there doesn't seem to be a fix that would be worth tryin' unfortunately.

Yeah I have the fix installed but it does mess up the cutscenes. frown Sad too, because the first one didn't have nearly as bad an FOV.

It's the "for consoles" change they make to games.

To each their own but I never had a problem with the FOV. One change I didn't like in ME 2 was how the inventory management was simplified.

I upgraded the ship, mainly so I could mine better. I dont remember upgrading the rest, but I must have because I dont think anyone died on me. I seem to remember sending someone off to escort some civilians back to the ship. Does that person die?

No they don't but if you don't assign anyone from your crew to escort the survivors then Dr. Chakwas dies.

Anyone miss the elevators from ME1? Together with the inventory (which, granted, was too cumbersome in ME1) this is something I consider a step back in ME2. Those loading screens really break the mood.
