For a Christmas present for patient OFF flyers and new potential OFF owners we have put together some video clips from PHASE 4 of
OVER FLANDERS FIELDS.

* * Please note * *

1) this is still WORK -in- PROGRESS

2) It is a PREVIEW of PHASE 4 (working title) of the next generation of Over Flanders Fields WW1 Flight Simulator

3) Damage Model and some Effects shown are still using older Phase 3 code for the moment until we update


Also note many new things are NOT shown but we will do so when we are ready

...and no don't ask when it's out - you know the answer already !

Very impressed!.. I love the way the airfields, trenches, and the OFF world is populated.. will certainly be giving this a go when it is released.. looks like a huge map, loads of different aircraft plus Zeppelins.. looking forward to it!

Polovski, good video preview. I have one HUGE complaint, however. You know I've posted about this since Phase 4 development was first announced. I'm talking about the music. The music on the preview video doesn't come close to the great score Matt created for Phase 3. Not even in the same ballpark, the same galaxy. I'm disappointed. But the preview video said Matt has created 19 musical scores. I hope at least one of the other eighteen is a great score.

Please, I hope the Phase 3 music is among the other eighteen? You know, allow the player to select the tune to listen to whilst in the menus, because I'm always going to want to listen to Phase 3 music, unless Matt has another one equally as good. Hopefully much better than the music in the preview vid.

Plainsman - the music in there are 2 selected suitable tracks that I felt fitted that video out of the NINETEEN (did I say 19?) tracks Matt has written specially. The MAIN theme we have NOT used yet of course and it is superb (IMHO) as I think these tracks are.

And yes I have already responded to same question posted before - I said several times we will of course include P3 music for those that would like that option - so please don't ask about it again, we got it already!

If I send you a CD of a group you like there will be tracks that you personally do not like as much as others, that's life. Others have already commented in our main forum they think those tracks are great and suit the video but each to his own. One comment from out main forum
"That was simply fantastic! The musical score is fantastic and fits just right." but hey ho

Note there are two short tracks in there, and I used one a few times as the movie was long but others are longer and develop etc as a score does. Anyway there are many fantastic new features in P4 as well as music.

Anyway I hope people find enjoyment from the other many new things coming in OFF P4 (including the main theme and the other 16 tracks).

Ohhh ! marvellous !!!thank you ...do the new campaign features reflect the tactical choices of the different sides ? the careful way the Germans behaved in the last year ? The incessant reco from the Entente side,its numerical superiority in the last months? etc ? etc ?

Thanks, yes Kaa. Battles and orders of the war affect the campaign - they are more accurate now too as squads have more accurate historical local tasks too etc - Germans do not encroach over the lines as much and so on. There's too much to list at the moment but later when we are ready we will list all the new things and improvements!

2. Will the CF3 disk still be needed?

3. When will this all come true? I have seen "phase 4" things now for well over a year!

3. When it's ready, all these many changes take a LOT of work to make happen. We are a very small team - much smaller than other sim dev teams, and we are working flat out. If you ever get involved in something like this you will realise the enormity of the work load. We hope months not years of course, but when we are nearly ready everyone will know.

thank you & keep on...OFF is one of the rare games that still keep me hooked on my PC...

Have to say, the more I watch that clip, the more interested I get...

there are 4 main types of track in the score. Theme based, atmospheric, mixture, and percussive. Each type appeals to a different kind of player. The track that features in the first trailer is of the percussive type. As pol said the best and most powerful tracks in the score, are being kept firmly under lock and key until the release.
The P4 score whoops the butt of P3's score, no question, I made sure of that.

About the music, my sixteen year old nephew said that matches, at least,
the best film soundtracks out there...
and you are saying that the theme we heard was one of the weakest?
Can't wait for the rest of it...

I don't think it's been stated in this thread, but the new user interface looks incredible.

Also the cockpits, from what I got glimpses of, look really nice.
