I'm wondering what software I need to open the 2 file types above for Mac and iPhone. I was informed I need a Kindle app but I can't find it on iTunes or the Mac app store.

I use Calibre, which I believe is freeware, to convert files between formats. I know it will handle those 2 and you can turn them into almost anything you want.

Calibre for the conversion on PC at least, "Stanza" on the iPhone/iPad works great.

Calibre does file conversion but is not an actual reader?
I'd get the free Kindle app but iTunes doesn't have it where I come from (non-US) frown

Calibre has a builtin doc viewer but only on the PC not a reader for IOS.

For IOS, I don't think Kindle app or iBook does the .epub or .mobi format, but Stanza does a great job on that for on IOS, it can even download books from Calibre on your PC via wifi if you turn on the book server on Calibre.

Calibre is great for batch editing tags on your epubs and pdfs. My nook can group the books by authors. I have about 500 startrek pdfs so I edited the authors in batches to make the books easier to find.
