Nice vid agree with some of it, COD4 was the last COD I bought because of it... hoping BF series doesn't keep sliding the same direction...
Still I am looking forward to Arma3 so I guess I haven't had enough.

LOL, that's why I haven't bought any since CoD4 and World at War either. I got THOSE on a big Steam sale, too, so I didn't pay much. I've not bought any CoDs since, haven't bought MoH since Airborne, and haven't bought a BF game since BF Vietnam!! Other than staying current on my Arma2 stuff, I think the only series I've bought all of have been the Clancy Splinter Cell, GR, and R6 games. That said, GRAW2, R6 Vegas 2, and Conviction were probably my least favorite of each series. However, I have most of them in Steam so I can go back and replay Raven Shield or Chaos Theory or GR+expansions at any time. I often find replaying the old ones more enjoyable than the new ones. I played OFP:DR, but this Black Friday RR was only $12 and I thought that too high. I paid $5 for DR and that was about what it was worth, so I'll get RR when it drops to $5. Now in non-military FPS, there are some great ones out there. Deus Ex HR (called an RPG, but it's so FPS-like I think of it like one as opposed to the Mass Effect/KOTOR-style RPGs I usually play) is great. Serious Sam 3: BFE is great. The Jedi Master

Good video. Its also the reason I did NOT buy either the latest COD or BF3. Its why I am interested in the next Far Cry3.
(found FC2 on sale........playing it now....DIFFERENT that's for sure!)
I agree they are far too linear in style and need a more open-world, dynamic style to keep interest. Can anybody say "Ghost Recon?"

Nice touch that vid!...
I long the days of VBS2, when a shooter was not desiged to be sold to masses of teens, but the primary intent was to simulate realisticaly and stimulate!...
Moreover, the software is half of the dimension. Then, when you tackle the MP, gamers are another dimension of that construct!...It is certainly a difficult balance to strike between the right game and the right players where you would feel at the right place!....A life quest, if it is worth to make it a quest!
So my questions are : fatigue from the genra alone?...Or fatigue from the game/gamers dynamic?...Because, if it is about fatigue from the game/gamers dynamic, lets take a second look at that vid and see what they are really saying about the gamers!

I'm just sick and tired of how all FPS's now are marketed entirely to a lowest common denominator american audience. I'd gladly trade COD, MOH, Homefront, X-COM etc for more STALKER-type games.

There won't be any more STALKERS it seems, anyway.

how to avoid it: don't buy every piece of crap fps that comes out. it's not rocket science.
last "shooter" i bought was red orchestra 2, and before that, arma 2. battlefield? call of duty? f that.
