im betting this latest and unexpected problem will mean we wont see the much talked about 50% improvement.

Unfortunately, recent CoD development history (or lack of depending on your point of view :)) is indicating this game is going to take months, (wait, its already been months) if not years to reach its true potential.
On a personal note, I'm one of those who is prepared to wait, I have other games to fill my flying needs, but many won't.. and that's the danger for this title.
Hope they make a huge improvement with the next patch no matter how long it takes, I'd love to see a huge CoD fraternity emerge online as IL2 was at its height.

Well, that was always the plan - for years Oleg talked in those terms. He was even proud that it took the long vision (a flight sim that would remain 'new' for ten years).

The original IL-2 series has still not reached its full potential, but it didn't stop users from enjoying the long process. I agree that the new series has had a rocky start, because its far more complex game engine is still not complete. The very good news is that the developer is still working on the project and hiring new people, which bodes well for another long run of theaters and new features. Unfortunately the rocky start has the developer reticent to say exactly what they're working on except in vague terms, less its thrown back in their face in a venomous fashion for not achieving their goals.
