Hey all, Just wanted to quickly show a script I've been working on. In retrospect, should've taken me 15 minutes instead of a few hours, but that's what I get for thinking it would be feasible to try to model individual CBU-97 type SFW skeets and their flight behavior. Instead I have just simplified it. This script replaces the behavior of a specified bomb type on an aircraft to be a cluster bomb. It's quite effective, but does not always guarantee a kill; damage modeling is still in place, and so any unit that can survive, say, a 120mm SABOT hit can survive the CBU, assuming it isn't hit with multiple bomblets or hit in a fatal location. The T-90s in the video persist, but they have severe damage to tracks, etc. In other tests they have all been destroyed.
You can see the bomblets falling in game, though not in the video. There are more than 200 bomblets (this does not create a server performance issue, since they cause no more strain than, say, the GAU-8 firing). They release at a fixed altitude and spread (can be changed in the script).
This script, with some tweaks, will also allow behavior similiar to the AGM-154 JSOW and other cluster munitions (perhaps replacing the Maverick on an aircraft). In preparation for my large-scale tank battle mission, of course! I will also add a CBU A-10 or F-35 or something to my TAOMIX EVO.
Figuring out how to do this has also opened a lot of other opportunities for interesting weapon behavior, which you'll be seeing more of in future missions. After all, one of the first things I did was make the SAW fire 120mm HE shells. Suppressing fire!

Here's a "JSOW"-kinda cluster-maverick. You can see it kill tanks behind earthern ramparts here. Fixed a few things since, but you can get the idea.

I've also refined this script to add an initial pop-up to the flight path of the JSOW-type Maverick. Improves its ability to destroy targets in situations where structures are between the aircraft and target. It's an amazingly deadly weapon.

These are hard to use, as it turns out. I will be releasing a bombing range mission when I finish tweaking them, so you can practice. They fall short of where a normal bomb would hit due to a drag effect on the submunitions. And they aren't guided. That said, a Stuka-style fly over, upside down, straight-down dive bomb works very well for even the worst of bombers.
