I find the new R.E.8 is a bit underpowered. Its climbing ability is marginal without bombs but with them it really struggles. Perhaps the option of carrying lessor numbers of bombs would help with this.

I like the revised FM of the Nieuport 17. Every time I attempted to fly it previously, a wing would crack off with the slightest bump or turn. Now it is competative with the Albatros D.II.

Overall, version 1.022 is a pretty good upgrade.

I've flown the RE8 a bit and also found it to be short on power, but I expected this with it being a fairly early aircraft. The way I fly it is to take off, then drop the nose to build airspeed before attempting a climb. A Bristol it isn't but it's a fun plane to fly even though it takes quite a bit of time to reach 10,000 feet.
