Tactical Thursday as usual this week at 8:00 eastern! Look forward to the teased Coast Guard mission, as well as Runway Busters (exciting air raid with sniper support), plus whatever else suits us.

These two missions are air heavy, so be sure to plug in your joysticks -- they offer plenty of other slots for those who don't like to fly, as well.

Also looking for some feedback: if I made a 'Fulda Gap'-type scenario, i.e. the enemy force was a very large group of Russian armor, would you prefer to play as A-10s/AH-64s/AC-130s hunting tanks and AAA, with F-35s fighting for air dominance, or as Abrams tank crews as part of a much larger force? Or a mix of both?

It's basically the same mission, after all -- just a matter of balance and what slots are playable. This mission'll be a big one...

Looking forward to some feedback.

I would vote for a mix of both. I love the idea of a Fulda Gap and the chance to use some big iron (Apaches, Abrams, A-10's) but it might be more useful to take a poll on the flying aspect of our missions.

Such as-

Who likes to fly?
Who is willing to fly? (which is very much not the same thing)
who doesn't like to/is unable to fly.

I think you need to look at your available pool of flyers and mission leaders (because realistically you can't do both)and allow for the roles. I am sure you are already doing that when I see the roles screen and there are 1-4 aircraft and the rest ground troops, but swinging the ratio the other way (just a few ground spots for non flyers) might be a fun mission experiment.

So far I have been designing my air-heavy missions to not have a 'leader' per se, but multiple flights each of which have a distinct and clear objective (i.e. CAP, SEAD, ground attack). Then I'll designate one person "Operational Planner" so that they can make the plans initially. Not sure how that works though -- we'll see on Thursday.

Runway Busters :- )

Only had four players at a max tonight, but we were able to beat an FCR raiding mission on Utes and got through the first half of Track Attack with only three people, which I think is a feat in and of itself.

Saw someone new load in while we were full on a four-man mission then drop right out without a word! Hope you can come next time!

Nope, must've been an internet drop on your end -- we called it quits at that point, anyway. Thought maybe Track Attack had done you in! lol
