I have been keeping an eye on this Space game since they first posted at SimHQ. The title reminds me much of a cross breed of the original 2D Lunar Lander (played it for ages in the late 70s), Darklight Conflict and Battlezone 1 & 2, this should be of great compliment. I can see liking the game but my wishes is to also have a simulator like the Eagle Lander 3D (http://eaglelander3d.com/) that works with Windows 7 and/or Linux. Thanks for the write up Guod!
Great review Jens. I am just getting started with Lunar Sim Sean Edwards put together. I am very impressed with the graphics, but as with all new sims, there is a learning curve getting it all to work. Like orbiter you can`t just jump into this and go. It will take me some time to figure it out.

Nice write up, I too am just trying to get to grips with it.
2 Things I would like to see if possible:
Firstly multi monitor support, the fact that you can have multiple views would lend itself brilliantly to multi screens! The ability to drag and shape each window would be a bonus.
As soon as I saw the demo I also thought.... IPAD!!! I think this would make a great IPAD App, any chance?

1: Unfortunately it's not something Unity Supports, I have thought about allowing you to resize and position the onscreen elements in fullscreen mode. That wont make it into version 1 though but may come as a later update.
2: I have actually been contacted by a publisher about doing an iOS or mobile platform version but as I am currently the only person that works on the game and porting it to a smaller scale less powerful device is not trivial, the PC version is a priority. If it makes enough money that I can give up my day job it maybe something I will pursue.

I am planning a series of Training Videos to demonstrate how best to use all the instruments and maintaining stable flight. I am also going to put together a manual.
Ultimately Lunar Flight is a skill based game and I am aware of the challenge it presents to newcomers but I am confident that with practice and experience you will get much better and find it much more rewarding as your skill increases. I have a few dedicated players whom show a great deal of skill and this is reflected in their Pilot Leaderboard Stats.
Looks cool! So if I donated $10 today would I get access to the beta? I assume since its a donation that it does not get applied to final release price, right? I don't have a problem with that, just curious.

Hi Force10, yes by making a donation you will get access to the current builds including the Beta when it is released in a couple weeks. You are also entitled to a copy of the final game. How that will be distributed is still TBD but if it is published on Steam it will likely be a Steam redemption code.
Training videos would really help me Sean, thanks. Wishing you greater success.

SUG. When fuel is out i must press reset. But what if fuel end almost same time as touchdown on platform, and lunar not broken? IMO mission should be counted as completed.
And if it going to be a map with some caves - it will be really nice!

So what is involved with a Desura account? Similar to Steam? Call me old fashioned but I much prefer the old fashioned method of downloading a stand alone installation file (or files).
I'm looking forward to this though. The beta version I played last year was a lot of fun (and then I got tied up with other things).

Hi Paul,
Desura is very similar to Steam but has a focus in Indie games. it's a pretty good client and great for checking out release and in development indie titles.
Gamers Gate will be selling the game in a week or two it will be a standalone installer.

Great to hear, hopefully Sim HQ will do a proper review of it soon. Jens said he's passed it onto some of the other staff to see if someone will take a look at it and write the review up.

Unfortunately no, its very disappointing that Valve still has not given me a yes or no answer. It was submitted on the 10th of January.
If you want to show your support please go and make a post on this Steam Forum thread. Note you will need to be registered for the Forum which requires a moderator to approve your registration.
Unfortunately as of today since the game was made available on Gamers Gate it has been Torrented and distributed across allot of torrent sites, I noticed a significant jump in traffic on the website mostly from people using the in game Flight School link to come and learn how to play the game they didn't pay for.

That must be bloody infuriating for you Sean
I can't remember how much I donated to you but to be honest I'm not that bothered if I have to purchase it again. My preferred platform would be Steam so I will wait and see what happens.

I just bought it a few days ago. WOW! This is tough. I love how hard it is. Right now I'm trying to go in a straight line from the north base to the south base. I havent made it yet. I've been using just the keyboard so far. Maybe I need to confiure the CH HOTAS for it. Good thing there's no wind on the Moon or I'd really be screwed.
