According to Nvidia, you are supposed to be able to enable Ambient Occlusion per specific game under the "Program Settings" tab (as opposed to the "Global Settings" tab), but when I call up supported games like Skyrim and Battlefield 3 it says that Ambient Occlusion is not supported. So I'm left to try enabling in the Global Settings which I do not prefer. Any ideas?

Hmm I will be honest here and say I have no clue what you are talking about LOL! I use Nvidia but have no clue what this is or does.

The new AO worked fine here, although PhysX failed to install. Only tried it briefly in Skyrim, and although there is some noticable flickering in 'performance' mode, I didn't notice any framerate drop so I'll have another go with it set to quality.

The effect is fantastic though. Some comparison screenshots here.

It has to do with how shadows are displayed.

Brun, were you able to get it to work using the "Program Settings" tab of the control panel or the "Global Settings" tab? If the "Program Settings," what executable did you aim the control panel at?

Program settings. Skyrim didn't show up in the list until I unchecked the only show installed programs button, but then I selected 'Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim' and it let me change it in the profile.

I think you're right. In fact, the examples they show at Nvidia illustrate what you just said. I think what I read was something to the effect that ambient occlusion helps to make shadowing more realistic. Similar, but not the same. Thanks for pointing that out.

You could actually force Oblivion's ambient occlusion in Skyrim before this beta, but the performance impact was horrid for me. Hopefully this will be better optimized
