Hi guys, I'm thinking of replacing my ch hotas as its getting a little long in the tooth and is on its last legs but I can't really moan because I've had the set for ten years and it's lasted brilliantly up until now, so now I'm looking at my options for a new replacement. I'm looking at the x65f or the warthog, before ghost chimes in yes I know I could buy ch again but I feel I need a bit of a change as excellent as they are. To be honest though I'm a little put off with the warthog because I brought a cougar when they came out and I found it to be a pile of junk and I don't really what to be stung again with a hotas that's going to crap out on me in six months. So unless ch are going to be bringing there a-10 hotas to the consumer market I guess my only real choice would be to go with the x65f. I've read the review here and a few from a few other site but I wonder how the guys who brought them are getting on with them and are there any reasons why I shouldn't buy one?

I had an x65f. I used it constantly and came to like it more than any othe stick. Then the stick stopped centering. The software driving the calibration wouldn't help either. I now use a thrustmaster cougar and will never go back to a saitek nop matter what they come out with. I tried to turn it in as far as a warranty. Not happening. i took it apart to see if i could fix it and see what makes it tick. The sensor that does the moving is held to the steel shaft by electrical tape. Gee i wonder why it broke. I used to be the guy that would say get a saitek. Not any longer. I have a ch fighterstick as a back up. I currently plan on getting the warthog. When my saitek pedals do finally die i'll consider getting another set since they have lasted longer than 5 saitek sticks.

Mmmm not good at all, it sounds like someone bodged it back together. There ain't a snowballs chance in hell that I'm gonna buy something held together with tape!

As much as I hate to say it since you've been spoiled with CH you're not going to be happy with anything else. Might as well go with new CH equipment and be done with it. I agree with you about how their design hasn't been updated in years but it's been proven to work so why change it?

If you want a fancier throttle you can always get an X52 and just use its throttle (you don't even have to plug the stick in for it to work). If you want a split throttle you can get a broken G940 setup and rewire it with a Bodnar board but yeah your options are pretty much limited. Unless you're willing to pay thousands there are only a few decent options out there...

I have them all laid out in my FLIGHT CENTRAL STORE if you need to compare pricing.

I dont agree with you completely MasterTec. I had the CH throttle and stick for years and they were great. My only two complaints came in the form of the throttle with only one and the large base on the stick because I liked it center mounted.

When A10 was in beta I decided I had to give the warthog a try. I love it. The throttle is the best I have used and all the buttons are reusable for lots of other stuff in other games. Apart from the paddle the warthog is my old CH stick in form but it's metal and the base was made for mounting in cockpits and I have it successfully center mounted.

As much as I was happy with my CH gear I dont have any regrets with the TM. I wouldn't swap back if that helps answer.
