Just picked up the game on the Steam sale (as I see many have).

In setting a game up, I usually tinker around with the graphics some using the in-game replay/tracks system, yet...there are no tracks included by default?

A quick search turned up replies pointing folks to:

.\Steam\steamapps\common\dcs a-10c warthog\Missions\Tracks\Demo

...and I do have that folder, only...it's empty. No files in it at all. I did a top-level search in the game's install dir for *.trk, and found no files.

So...I've got nothing.

Should the game have some demo tracks? If not, where could I download some? I'd like something showing plenty of in-cockpit work, and preferably something rather graphically demanding (usually involving cities, based on graphics tweaking with other flight sims).

Any ideas?

Yea, I would love to be able to download tracks that others have made, to be able to learn from them. Im surprised there have not been many, if any uploaded. there are a bunch for FC and Lockon, but very few if any for a10. Maybe we can all upload some of our tracks to lockon files or DCS's site and start a collection that we can all share. Its nice to see what others are doing. Most of my tracks are just of me hot-doggin around the base trying to get a feel for the plane itself. Not much combat stuff. Id love to see the tracks of others. Combat, refueling, practicing land\takeoff etc..

tracks aren't going to show you anything that you haven't set up yourself, with regards to graphics settings. For instance, if you have your settings at medium, and mine are at full max and I record a track for you, when you play it back, it will play back using your settings.

The only way to get 'max settings' is to change YOUR settings. Make a simple mission by dropping an a10 over downtown Tbilisi, set to 'player' , then hit the 'fly' button. Fly around a bit, look around the cockpit, then exit and save track. Now you can change your graphics settings however you like, replay the track and see what difference it makes.

I would also like to see some tracks (v 1.1.1.0). ED usually includes some but there aren't any in this version. Also, usually in these forums there's a sticky thread for tracks. Not one here or at ED's official forum. Bummer.

A-10C isn't really the acrobatic "fun to watch" style flying that you'll get with a fast mover. That's possibly why there aren't any "look at me!" tracks posted. Fly in, lock a target, launch and turn away. smile

Why not use the instant mission options for setting up graphics?

Yes, but that's the point.

I want to have a track that I can replay over and over, repeating the same 'scene' rendered, so that I can tinker with my graphics settings to get them at a point where quality and performance are balanced.

In any case - I found a track on the official site that seems to work pretty well. And, turns out, my system handles "everything on max" just fine.

(Somewhat surprise to see the game isn't multi-threaded, though. Shame to only use one core...)

Wag's producer's notes videos are really good, as well as some tutorials from Tyger and ExcessiveHeadspace.

Xander, nice find. Um, exactly what am I supposed to with all the files included with the track files?
