Returning from a mission, jumped a couple of D-V's (fortunately, on my side of the line) and mixed it up a bit.

While I was finishing off my first target, his wingman got in a good burst. What appeared to be oil partially blocked my vision and as the fight continued, the restriction to visibility increased. I was finally able to finish off the wingman and by the time I made it to my field, the engine wasn't making much power.

Is this something new? I'm asking because I've never experienced this one before. Have to admit when I first saw it I thought it was blood but quickly realised it was kinda brown!

Yep, oil leaking on your goggles is new for 1.22.

Yeah that is new added in as Barkhorn stated ...

My question ( not to high jack ) but can the oil be wiped off ?

it can't be wiped off, but it eventualy gets blown off..
