Looks good with nice traffic. Sound needs work though. The short clip in the 747 cockpit shows TrackIR functionality, but how good is the cockpit? The glimps was too short to see it.

Just tried the demo. X-plane 10 looks awesome but I guess because it's still beta it runs terribly bad on my computer. Every set default and I can't barely takeoff.
QuadCore 2, ATI 5770 1, 4GB.

It's just a beta I am sure performance will improve.

Nice video and screenies JimK.

Yeah I have high hopes for this one, but so far I'm getting disappointing 22FPS with the default settings on my sig system which plays FSX at 25-45FPS with much more detailed payware scenery and aircraft, sort of scratching my head so far and hoping it is something that someone will find some tweaks I need to do to unlock the beauty, maybe it doesn't like ATI GPU?

To be fair, those specs aren't exactly top end. If it's CPU hungry, then a quad core is the order of the day, and if it's GPU dependent, than the 5770 isn't going to cut it for a high-end flight sim.

I think my configuration is not the problem. I have read more people are having same problem. I haven't even maxed everything out and performance is horrible, really poor performance. I think I'll wait until release and see if performance improves.

CPU and GPU are at less than 50% usage when playing...it's not even sweating

Go into your weather settings and turn off the cavoc 50 mile vis. lower it and I have heard many users
say their fps rates improved vastly over what they had before. There are just so may settings to play
with, just open them all up and keep testing, patience is important with X-Plane, I am going on 12 years
with it now. Still have my 5.52 disks I bought in Nov. 1999. Been sticking with ever since.

Seeing as I'm getting a whopping .6 kilabytes per second on the torrent, the title will probably be out before I get the demo frown

277 seeds, and over 1500 peers. At least the sims getting some love!

Also, regarding system specs, if it's not even using half of a dual core, then why does the xplane site list:

Quote:
However, for the best experience, we recommend the following:

a 3 GHz, multi-core CPU (or, even better, multiple processors),
4 GB of RAM, and
a DirectX 9-capable video card with 1 GB of on-board, dedicated VRAM.

1. Ok, so I guess it scales across cores. But that still doesn't explain system resource going unused.

2. How would one have a rig with multiple CPUS...?

Yeah definitely, I would say the only thing that comes to mind is maybe XPlane10 works well with your Nvidia cards and maybe not my ATI cards, it would not be the first time a game/sim had that problem and even FSX is much more friendly to Nvidia than ATI cards.

I will try some of the tweaks you mentioned to see if I can get it behaving better (thanks for posting them BTW), other than that I am just hoping someone figures out why some of us are getting really poor performance where it is obviously working well for other people based on your screenshots and videos.

X-Plane 10 blog says ATI card users should upgrade drivers right away. Then hear from many ATI
card users that they did already. Anyways, being an early alpha demo, these problems will get
ironed out eventually since the disks have not been sent out yet.
