On my last campaign mission I was no longer able to contact AWACS for any info. All comm options were greyed out except for the rescue helo option. Did I change a setting without realizing it, radio channel perhaps, or is AWACS just not flying at this time?

The AWACs was out of range or went home - often needed to manually ensure 1 was up in previous versions.

I have the same query as the OP. This was in a TE mission that i had written. I didn't understand this reply really.
Are you saying that the AWACS have to be written into the TE?

I thought they were automatically included. What do i have to do to have AWACS available,please?

Add an E-3 (or E-2) to any airbase (or ship) and then create a flight. Ensure it stays out of enemy airspace and away from any enemy aircraft, add CAPs if needed.

When you create an AWAC's it appears that the menu that you select it on will sometimes default it to a FAC assignment. If this happens the plane will be flying along and the crew having a good time but they will not respond to an AWAC's call ---the AWAC's menu will be greyed out.

Be sure to assign them to the AWAC's function.
