I am getting a new laptop. Can ROF be played on a laptop? Any recommendations for a machine.

Something like this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834214490

The big weakness with most laptops is graphics, so don't buy something with a lousy gpu.

I play ROF on a Medion x6811 - i7-740QM, 6Gb RAM, GTX 460M

As long as I'm not using AA (FXAA works just as well without any fps hit) I get nice smooth fps at 1080p with everything maxed apart from shaders (slight stutter when near the front dust effect). I keep fps limited at 30fps to prevent the GPU from getting too hot as the laptop gets quite noisy (extra slipstream sound effect not that ROF needs it!)

What ever you get I wouldn't recommend getting anything with a GT GPU, go for something with a dedicated GTX GPU. The 560M linked to above is the successor to the 460M with slightly higher default clock speeds.

Have a look at the MSI range as it will be much cheaper than the Toshiba - my medion is a rebadged MSI model.
