Any folks here using one? Considering possibly getting three for surround gaming. They are obviously more expensive than those with refresh rates of 60MHz or thereabouts. From what I've read, at higher frames per second, they provide a much smoother visual experience.

I've been looking at them, but they want an awful lot. I think I'd much rather have a Dell "e-IPS" panel as I'm more picky about color shift and off angle viewing...

Most don't have Displayport connections either!

Dell puts a really noticeable antiglare coating on its monitors, one that makes black text against a white background look kind of "dirty" (like there's a film of fine dust over it). I do lots of editing and so I can't go that route. Glossy or less noticeable antiglare (like Samsung uses) is better.

You've tried the newest e-IPS they have? I know the older models did, but I haven't seen it from their newer Ultrasharp line.

Higher refresh rates do make a difference when you can run a game above 60 FPS...but the only LCDs that go above that mark are TN panels, and I refuse to put up with the lousy viewing angles (especially as a TrackIR user).

That, and I haven't seen a 120 Hz panel with a resolution greater than 1920x1080 yet. I refuse to do with anything less than 1920x1200.

I never imagined it would be so difficult finding the right monitor. I've bought and returned 3 now- Dell and HP due to AG, and Samsung due to excessive backlight bleed. These were all 2560x1440, Dell and HP are IPS and Samsung PLS (Samsung's version of IPS). Expensive, and supposedly excellent. I'd consider the Apple 27" display but it is a bit more $$ and would not be my first choice for three in surround. That pretty much exhausts the 27" 2560x1440 options.

I don't think you'll find 120MHz displays. More likely 120 Hz. wink

I have good hopes for the HMDs to reach high refresh rates, but they already have the benefit of no cross talk in 3D.

I know what you mean. I was looking at ASUS IPS monitors, but they all reported bad backlight bleeding.

Though, the new Dell UltraSharp U2412M is getting rated very highly.
