Hey oldtimer,
Take a look in programfiles(x86)>Steam>SteamApps>Common>Il2CliffsOfDover, there you will find a PDF version of the manual that came with the boxed versions of the game. I think you'll find it's far from exhastive, but there is some useful information there. Otherwise just do a search of the forum and the Archive if you have something more specific to ask, or just ask!
Otherwise there is a wealth of knowledge in the crazy minds of those of us who get on the ATAG server and tune in to team speak! Loads of people on there who will happily help.
EDIT. I thought I recognised your name, I spoke to you last week on ATAG, we spent around half an hour flying round in circles over Manston trying to find each other! (or was it?)Welcome to Sim HQ. Smile2

Bokononist, where can I find a recent list of the control assignments used in COD? I'm creating my first joystick profile for COD.

Thanks,
Dirk.

I'm not quite sure what you mean by a recent list, but if You're setting up a stick for the first time go into Controls-Axes and set the correct axes from there.
After that important things to have mapped to your stick
Weapons, plus secondary if you fly the 109.
Prop pitch, needs to be adjustable without looking down if you're in a dogfight.
Trim, depends on your stick and your head tracking solution. I use my hat-stick but again, needs to be adjustable 'on the fly' for precise flying.
Radiator.
Fuel mix.
Canopy.
Parachute.(you'll need it)
Flaps.
Brakes.
Landing Gear.

There are plenty of other controls you need to map, but when you've got these set up take a few quick mission flights see how it feels. I spent a lot of time pressing pause going into my controls and changing things around to suit me. I'll have to go through it all again once I've bought my new HOTAS!
Hope this is what you meant.

Thanks for all the extra info, it is helpful. What I meant was a list of the default assignments (key-bindings). There are dozens of key-bindings that I'd like to asssign to my Joystick's map and while programming it I don't want to go for each to the game's UI every time.

Dirk.

Ah, I see what you mean. I think you're out of luck there, as far as I know there's no official documentation for key mappings. Indeed some important controls haven't even got default mappings. If you are trying to set up your HOTAS profile with its own software I'm afraid your going to have to find your way around the CloD controls menu anyway. mycomputer

Yes, I've been there already, unfortunately it does not exactly correspond to UI's Sections and their functions. I thought somebody made a list, like it had been done by users for all earlier games. No problem I'll manage this, but will take me some extra time.

Cheers,
Dirk.

Well, a default Contorls map for the game would still be useful, as there is no Reset to Default button in game's UI.

You can save them as different names once they're done though, which allows you to have different profiles for different planes.
It wouldn't do much good to have a reset to default unless all the useful keys were mapped in the first place.
Admittedly it is a real pain getting things set up in the first place, but once you've got the basics done, tweaking is pretty straightforward.

Can somebody explain please how Axes tuning work in COD? For example, I'm trying to tune Rudder Trim Axis. So, there are following settings:
0% Dead Zone:
100% Dead Zone:
While I think I understand 0% Dead Zone setting, the 100% Dead Zone slider is something very new on me. And I thought I'd seen it all...

Thanks,
Dirk.

Too late, I did not save the default map... Will have to ask for it if I mess it up.

I think the thing to watch is the in/out graphics, they compare the input of the stick/rudder to the effect the stick/rudder has in the game.
As I understand it the 0% deadzone is for 0 deflection of the stick, and the 100% deadzone is for the maximum deflection of the stick. I don't really see where that would be useful though.

I think if I remove my custom controls ini from 'My Documents\\il-2 sturmovik cliffs of dover' folder the exe will create a new default one next time I'll launch the game.

Dirk.

PS: it resets the Keys section to the defaults, not the Axes.
PSS: It messes up actually, some default bindings are back and some are not.

Don't know, never used it. I think thats an option on some of the LW planes. Also good to remember that there are control options 'deploy arrestor hook' for example that have no possible use in CloD. So dont expect everything to do something.
