Some screenies:

CAMPGR44.DAT from SPAW45 loaded. Note that the number of special events and special missions both equal zero, so those tabs are not active.

Show set-up for editing clicked

The name of the defender's capital (Weiwak Harbour) clicked brings up the map.
A different one can be selected.

The forces tab, many sliders are used for editing

To switch scenarios I had to exit and re-run.
This is default 1.28E in which the the numbers of special events and special missions are not zero so their tabs are active.
Scrolling down to special mission #2 has seven of the possible eight targets listed in green boxes.
Clicking on one of these green boxes will bring up the map, with the appropriate radio button selected, so that a new target can be selected if necessary.

Please note that on most pages there is a green "Enter these changes" button. Clicking it not only puts the numbers in the grid, but writes them into the file. Editing takes place "on the fly".
I have deliberately left the grids visible so that we can see the actual values.
I may produce another version with an editing checkbox. This would let the changes to the grid be made, but allow the user the option to write to the file.

So I wrote a quick year changer and made the squad files 1915, 1916 and 1917.
Using the campaign editor I made the campxxyy.dat files the same.

Then I started a RAF 1940 career

Nice work, Jel. I might have to wait to play with it until after the big Thanksgiving weekend.

If you get the chance would you mind trying dates after 1946? The old editor CTD'd on anything after mid-1946.

I ask because it would be useful for a Korean campaign.

I think Gurney's squadron editor and my year changer could work in tandem.
It seems to be a matter of having matching squadron and campaign files.
The squadron files can be edited with Gurney's program, and then the year changed with my little proggy.
I'll do another year change thing with the campaign and squad editors and report back.

Reporting back smile

I set the 1940 year to 2011 in the camp40 and squad40 files

There was no problem apart from the short year being 111 which is because 1900 is subtracted from the long year smile
So there should be no problem with Korea smile

So that's why William won. I always wondered how that happened.

I mean, the French beating the English. Really?

Of course, the same thing worked out pretty well at Yorktown ( well, at least for us it did )so I guess one can catch lightening in a bottle more than once. biggrin

I'll see if I can get some campaign modding time in over the long weekend.

When I was using Gurney's squad editor it resulted in a CTD when loading some stock 1.28E files.
So I have started to include one in the campaign editor.

Note that the squadron file loaded matches the campaign file loaded, and that you can switch between the two.
At the moment the editor is just reading the file, but it should not take me too long to start it editing.
One thing I need to do is to get the airbase number out of "targets.dat". The squadron files use this number any not the one from "tarnames.str".

Thanks Per.
Early tomorrow we drive from Lyon to Nice Airport in order to pick up Sheila and Lasse Karlsson from Helsingborg to spend a week or so with us. No doubt we will make a return visit next summer, and with luck I will be able to catch up with you there.
Work on this editor might have to go on the back burner for a few days, but I do not think I will be bored smile

Hi,

EAW wont work correct outside the default years. There are many links inside the code to 1940/43/44/45.

For this reason we did invent the year.mpf, the year informations of this file only influence the screens, not the gameplay.

Greetings,

Knegel

So will this editor allow campaigns to be made that will work
in Career mode? (I'm dying to have DAW and SPAW career-mode
work as they should!) WinkNGrin

Hi Ray,
ya know............actually nothing! hahaha

I thought I was having some trouble with these......
in SPAW in a F4U I thought I was getting some ridiculous
distances.....but the scale of the map is not the same as EAW default,
and all planes make the distance and return easily.....DAW and SAW
are now working pretty good! I used to get alot of ctd's.....but so far
they are working pretty good! I'll come back and cry later if I encounter
any problems! thumbsup

Oh good.

I thought I'd thoroughly tested most of the careers and I was afraid I'd missed something.
