Well I just decided to have a go at flying the B-25J unfortunately when i switch the engines on and start to taxi the plane won't respon to steering with the keyboard rudder and it's assigned to z and x which is default for the game, instead the plane just spins around and won't budge with rudder input, any help is appreciated in advance

Make sure your throttle is controlling both engines at the same time. If you are only revving one engine, you will spin in a circle.

ahhh ok that makes a lot of sense any advice as to which hotas setting i should use to fix that? as in which one axis should i assign the throttle to to control both engines. well i'll have a fiddle around with it in the meantime Cheers

Well according to the hotas setup my throttle is set on the z axis under power but not engine one or two or whateva so im not sure why the plane is still only using one engine for throttle control if it's not set to just one engine is it perhaps because i need an actual throttle instead of a throttle wheel perhaps- i hope not coz then i can only fly the plane if i buy a throttle and thats damned expensive

You will need to go into the Controls section and map a key or joystick button for the "Select All Engines" Function.
There are several user defined Controls and that just happens to be one of them.

If you are using the "Complex Engine management" difficulty setting you will need to bind a key for "Select Engine One" and "Select Engine Two" also.

yeah thanks but i already assigned those keys and both engines are on started seperately it's that the throttle is only adding power to one engine

I am just asking to try and understand what you are doing.

Are you starting and running up the engines in this order?

1. Select Engine 1
2. Start Engine 1 - make sure it is running
3. Select Engine 2
4. Start Engine 2 - make sure it is running
5. Use the "Select All Engines" Command
6. Apply the throttle and both engines RPM should climb at the same rate.

You could start engine 2 first I just used engine 1 for my example.

If you have the "Select all Engines" command set with a joystick button then try another one or add a keyboard command and see if that fixes the problem.

If you are lucky enough to own a multi-throttle device, IL-2 now supports such hardware. So, if you are using Complex Engine Management, you don't need to use the 'Select All Engines' command.

So with something like this http://www.chproducts.com/retail/t_tq_quad.html you could control each of the 4 engines seperately in say a flyable B-29.

With something like this http://flightcontrols.org/thrustmaster-hotas-warthog-review you could control each engine seperately in all of the flyable 2-engine planes.
