ISI posted some new(?) screenshots of a 1960s F1 car at Monaco, at the chicane. http://isiforums.net/f/showthread.php/1266-Monaco-Chicane

It looks so cool. Can't way to drive there.
If the 1960s car at Monaco isn't one of the first Rfactor 2 races here, there might be a problem. grrr

biggrin

I think anyone that's ever even heard of GPL has the same idea about that in rF2. biggrin

I was reading further in that thread and Tim Wheatley indicated that there will be three 1960s era tracks. http://isiforums.net/f/showthread.php/1266-Monaco-Chicane?p=17280&viewfull=1#post17280 Monaco and Spa will be two of them, but what is the third? Has that been announced anywhere yet?

I've only seen screens of Spa and Monaco. I haven't seen an announcement yet on it. My guess would be something historic to that era. Not sure if tracks in that era still fall under licensing agreements or not.

Based on the results from 1967 at that race, Monza's my guess.

A 60's version of the Ring would be nice smile

The Ring and Monza both sound nice. Monza is pausible, as they created that for RF1 and they can use the framework for that to use in RF2, as it's still so similar. I have no basis for thinking this, but I can't help thinking it's Watkins Glen.

The Allies should have blown that place up in 1945....I can't even find things in my fridge, yet I'm expected to remember something like 110 turns?

hahaha

I think you will get lost there too. 110 turns only get you 2/3 of the lap. biggrin

Any version of The Ring will do for me. smile

Seen this while browsing through some of the Development Threads at ISI....

Quote:
The open beta itself will be heavily related to the new modding system. That's really what we're doing it for... It's quite a radical change for the modders (and plugin makers) to work with. There's packaging and an update system for mods. Big step away from the confusing hunt for mod updates everyone faces with rF1.

So, I wouldn't expect any immediate crossovers for our favorite mods....at least good ones taking advantage of the newer physics.

Probably why I only did enough to barely get below the GPL benchmark there...kept getting lost and looking for a gausthaus. cheers

I think there was fighting around there. There was definitely fighting at Malmady at the old Spa, glad they didn't totally wreck that.

The Monaco screnshots look pretty good to me, cant wait to drive it.
I hope they've done some work on the AI as I only really race offline these days.

Sir Jackie Stewart was commentating on first practice for the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix on Friday and he got talking about the 'Ring. He was asked by David Croft if driving the ring was different from driving normal tracks where you could learn the tracks fairly easily and he said it was no different, He still remembers every corner and every gradiant change of it!
Back on topic(sort of) It's Spa I am looking forward to driving!

I heard that and it's actually what brought the track to the forefront of my mind. My favourite bit was Sir Jackie's comment that if anyone gets out of an F1 car and admits to enjoying a GP at the Ring that they've obviously not been trying hard enough.

Spa 67 is one of my all time favourite tracks so i'm looking forward to an ISI version. I love modern day sports cars but much prefer older tracks. One of the great things about sim racing is that i can run both. yep

Apparently living a continuous, near-death experience can focus the mind and leave quite a permanent imprint on one's long-term memory! biggrin

I drive the 'Ring a lot in sims (first discovered it and became addicted to it in GPL and every sim since), even though it has a lot more corners than the typical track, once you run it enough you get to know each and every corner and just when to push and brake, and it becomes just a fun blast that you can actually be consistent at.

Hats off to Sir Jackie Stewart and the other legendary drivers of the time who had extra incentive and risk driving there of course especially in the rain and before the safety features, but it is good to see that he is so matter of fact about it even now, one of the reasons he is one of my favorites.

Looks like a lot of fun! I hope they are trying to make an updated version of GPL.
