Sir Jackie Stewart was commentating on first practice for the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix on Friday and he got talking about the 'Ring. He was asked by David Croft if driving the ring was different from driving normal tracks where you could learn the tracks fairly easily and he said it was no different, He still remembers every corner and every gradiant change of it!
Back on topic(sort of) It's Spa I am looking forward to driving!
I drive the 'Ring a lot in sims (first discovered it and became addicted to it in GPL and every sim since), even though it has a lot more corners than the typical track, once you run it enough you get to know each and every corner and just when to push and brake, and it becomes just a fun blast that you can actually be consistent at.
Hats off to Sir Jackie Stewart and the other legendary drivers of the time who had extra incentive and risk driving there of course especially in the rain and before the safety features, but it is good to see that he is so matter of fact about it even now, one of the reasons he is one of my favorites.
