The American Government has reliable intelligence on the location of Petr Strudinsky - a known Chechen terrorist linked to dozens of bombing massacres in the last decade. Moving to neutralize this threat, a 26-person strike team has been assembled under the code-name Operation Deepcut, with the intent to kill or capture Petr and his Lieutenant Jaromir Yultsin.

This raid is planned for December 3rd 2011, at 2200z utilizing the ArmA2 Free game platform. (Click here to get ArmA2 FREE) See the Fightersims forum below for more information.

Operation Deepcut Event Forum

Who or what is Fightersims? Fightersims is a couple of guys who have hosted large-scale events for Falcon4: Allied Forces in the past (24 people events) and have plans to host more LFEs for BMS Falcon4 and ArmA2 in the future. We aren't a clan and the only 'members' list is whoever is registered on the Fightersims forum and requests a roster spot for the LFEs. This is not a recruitment effort, and in fact we prefer if clans/groups can bring multiple people to participate as a full element/team! We've got more scenarios created for ArmA2, and provided Operation Deepcut goes well, we'll be hosting more LFEs on a regular basis. (The next one has 47 slots)

We hope to see you there!

To be clear, signups need to happen at Fightersims.com.

If we don't get signups to fill the roster, the event is going to be canceled.

300+ views and not a *single* signup?

At this point I'd like to know why people are avoiding this like the plague. Are you not aware of the two massive (for Falcon4:AF, they were massive) flights orchestrated by us at Fightersims? Is it because it's ArmA2 Free? (Chosen specifically so ANYONE interested would be able to get the game and play)

If not those reasons, why? Rather disappointing and irritating to go through the effort of putting this together and getting ZERO response.

It looks like a lot of effort went into this event and I feel really bad about the lack of interest, but is SimHQ the only venue used for promoting the event? The ArmA community here is pretty small and I for one haven't actually played online in quite some time, so this isn't really the place for promoting external events. With that said, I think your choice in software is probably also a factor as everyone here is likely to already have some variation of ArmA 2 installed, and installing another version probably sounds like work.

Anyway, good luck.

I appreciate the reply, Brennus.

SimHQ was one of four sites we chose to promote the event. So far, the response..well there *hasn't* been any response.

That being said, ArmA2 itself is compatible with ArmA2 Free. I thought that was understood, but perhaps not.

So if anyone has ignored this because they thought they'd have to install yet another version of ArmA2, if you have ArmA2, you can play on an ArmA2 Free server!

Thanks for the reply though, it's nice to hear something! smile
