So I was at the beach I always go to in San Fran, and as usual I bought my camera so I could take some long exposures.


When I was finished taking my desired photos, I sat down on the cliff and looked at the stars. I looked to my left, along the coast, and saw a flickering light slowly rising. I instantly grabbed my camera and took some long exposures of the objects.

As soon as one rose up and faded out, another one would appear at the top of the hill that the first one started at. Here are the photos:

So the question is: Does anyone know of any Navy activity outside SF Bay?

Did the streaks move fast in real time?

I'm tempted to say that being sunset, the sun is reflecting on aircraft contrails.

I could be wrong though...heh.

It was actually dark at the time, and the "sun" in the first photo is the moon actually setting. There were no contrails coming from the objects, what is in the photograph is just a single point of light moving over the course of 30 seconds. By the time these lights showed up, it was around 9:00 P.M PST

In that last photo you posted, just beneath the short horizontal bright line is a what appears to be a dim line of dots. In a time exposure this would seem to me aircraft lights flashing at intervals.

As for the brighter light streaks, I can't tell. When you view them at 1:1 (or closer) do you see any dotted trails coinciding with the bright solid trails which might indicate flashing aircraft lights?
