Where the heck has everybody been the last couple of weeks? The largest crowd I've seen in a server (other than the newbie) is five. Even Saturday and Sunday nights the servers were about empty. I and the guys I fly with were just wondering what's up...

Beta testers are testing 1.022 and the Re8. Other than that, the servers are empty during North American hours because we don't want to jump in a server before we see another person there. Europeans outnumber us pretty heavily, I think, but there should be enough of us for a good fight in the evening!

Although "they" probably won't admit it, damn BF3 and now MW3 have hit the market and all my years of selling games tells me this is part of it. Titles that big have ripple effects on other games. Overall sales have been slow since BF3 came out which of course is not good for us. Time to rally guys!

Well, if they did a real dedicated server version it sure would change... I did try to set RoF up on my Windows 2008R2 server in my cellar and with no planes at all connected it still used 60-70% CPU... The same server runs IL2 with 20 connected players with a CPU load that is almost impossible to see.

RoF really uses the normal client executable to run the server which is really not a dedicated server and therefore it loads completely unnecessary stuff and seems to run the normal render loop on the server. Why else would I get 70 load with NO planes connected?

EDIT: and yes, I've been busy playing BF3 lately like many others wink Sure it's brain dead arcade stuff - but it's darn well done!

I guess that explains it. I've never been into anything but flight sims (with the exception of ARCA Sim Racing) and 'shoot'em ups' like BF3 hold no interest for me, but that's just me. Hopefully things will pick up again soon. It's just kind of a downer to log in and find empty servers when I'm all primed to fly.

I wish I could get on at that time. I'm Central U.S. (Texas) and I ranch for a living. It's got to be after dark for me if the weather is decent, or I'm still working most days.

I did find a small crowd on Hellequins tonight around 11 pm. Had some fun fights with the guys that were there.

I've been spending a lot of time flying the newly upgraded Ka-50 in Black Shark 2. (Heck, I haven't even finished COD: Black Ops... so no MW3 for me yet.)

The complexity is what is drawing me in... but after I've been shot down or crashed my chopper a couple of hundred times it always feels good (and oh so visually satisfying) to jump in my Fokker and take off for a fun and relaxing flight in RoF. :-)

I'd love to get on-line and try things out, but I've never been able to and haven't been able to figure out why. I went through the whole port assignments and double checked firewall settings, etc. with no luck.

Every time I try to start multiplayer, it starts to load (art work splash screen) and gets about 90% complete and then I just get a CTD and a "ROF has stopped working" message. I never have any problem logging on for single player, and I've never had any issues with any other on-line gaming. In fact I've been doing the BF3 thing since it came out.

That maybe true Jason, but you guys need to fix the bits you have control of!

For multiplayer the score pages haven't worked since the end of August and the Master Server connection problems are currently the worse they have ever been (Servers Not Showing, Players not showing on the Servers "Statistics" page or all showing with Nil kills, Very delayed Kill messages or not showing up at all).

I know you have an update (V1.022) due any day, but please concentrate on fixing multiplayer after that.
