How do you ask for permission to take off/land now?

I go into the radio command menu (\) and then ATC but cannot get those commands to respond. Also, if I take off from a FARP I can't tell which of the many ATCs to choose from.

Are you using the right freq/radio? With the realistic comms box ticked BS works like A-10, right?

Hmmm, I'm not sure. I don't have "Easy Communication" clicked. The BS2 manual says that: All communications between flight members and air traffic control are performed at a preset frequency of 127.5 MHz by default. Unlike in the real world, you do not need to change frequencies to communicate with different airfields. The manual also says it will simply not let you choose radio commands that don't make sense, but I want to be sure that it is not also something that I am screwing up.

In the back of the new manual, the one you downloaded with the game. There is an addenum which is a list of all the radio frequencies of the towers at the various airfields. Depending on which airfield you are at, you need to set the radio comms to the appropriate frequency for that particular tower. Once done, you can then radio the tower for clearance etc. Don't forget before you set the radio frequency to write down the frequency it currently is at...because that is the frequency you communicate with your wingman. Once airborne and out of airfield territory, you need to reset radio frequency to that first frequency in order to talk to wingman. Coming back to airfield to land...you need to dial in frequency to particlar airfield.

Thanks Enigma! I went to the regular Radio Comms section and didn't think to look for an addendum. Again, thanks.

Note: you can also find frequencies through F10 map. Click an aerodrome and you'll get information on it.

By the way, is the aerodrome frequency list the same in the BS 1 manual as in the BS 2 manual? I ask because I forgot to bring a copy to work so I can print it and the only version I see on the DCS site is the original one.

Crap! I just downloaded the BS 1 manual and it doesn't have the frequency list in the Supplements section. Oh well, I'll have to remember to e-mail myself that list from home so I can print it out at work.

Hmmm, maybe the A-10 manual has the frequency list.

Cool, the A-10C manual has a frequency list; hopefully it it is the same as the BS2 list. I'll find out tonight.
