I bought IL2 1946 yesterday, after the download when i tryed to install nothing happend! he simply don't instal, I've win7 and i read that there are some problems with this OS! In my download folder i don't have any A.exe. to start the installation, UAC is disable.. Any ideas?

Where did you buy the download. It may help us determine what is needed to get it running.

Second download and the same problem!

Do not allow it to install into the "Program Files" folder. Create a "Games" folder outside of the "Program Files" folder and direct the install to it.
The "Program Files" folder creates several problems with editing files and adding patches and may be causing your install problems too?

He didn't ask me where i want to install the files, after downloading i click the instal button then a new window opens (IL-2 1946) with Install option (+Read Me and Exit buttons) after i click install the window closes and nothing happen, he didn't start the instalation procedures, so no chance to point another folder or drive.

after a couple of emails with Getgames i tried differents compatibility modes (all of them) and installation on safety mode, all without results...

I'm not sure if the download version contains the same base files as the DVD version, but on the DVD version if the usual "setup.exe" file doesn't start the install sequence correctly the 'fix' was to use the "a.exe" file instead. Opening that file usually would launch the install procedure on WinVista and/or Win7 systems.

Too late to check now of course, since you've already got a refund coming...

Yeah SandMan i read that in other forum (mission4today) then i searched for that file "a.exe" but i didn't found it. I checked the number of transferred files and they matched the correct number of files, so they were all there..
I think that "a.exe" is not included in the download just in the dvd version. Don't know if is someone here who has already downloaded this sim with success?!

Like Aviar I have sent people to "Good Old Games" and they have downloaded it without problems and they were able to get it running on Win7.

Thanks for that info. I had just bought a fresh copy of the game to load onto my new gaming machine with windows 7 64 bits and was getting no where. Luckily I stumbled on this thread and it now works fine.

Plenty of IL-2 46 dvds on eBay, why bother downloading one.

Final update: bought it on GOG and everything went fine this time

Thanks Wheels My conclusion about this is that there was something wrong or with the file downloaded (maybe corrupted) or the installation sequence (they look like different, at least the setup window!). I really don't know but now is working.
