there should be a thick opaque circle around the nvg view to represent the eyepiece

except you're able to twist completely around without stopping. also, the fov is realistic since there's nothing behind you but the back of the cockpit anyway.

Have to second the opaque circle. In my experience the tubes do create pretty much a circle when you set them up right. The other thing, and I couldn't tell from the screen shot, you shouldn't be able to read any guages or anything close to the helicopter when the goggles are focused. They are usually focused on something about 100 ft away, and this makes it hard to read things in close.
