Hey... I feel the same way as most... a over hyped run and gun... but I have to admit that I have enjoyed the first two campaign stories, especially the ending of the first one... most intense ending ever in a game for me... and I know it's all on rails with tons and tons of bad guys spawning in, till you move forward... but theirs no denying that it is one hell of a cinematic story that your the star of...
Well here's a 90 plus minute MW3 presentation video... and it's looking great... for what it is. IMO

LOL! Put Pfunk down for some dlc too while you're at it. I'm not a big fan of COD, I've got too many issues with what it's done to my gaming community, but I might eventually break down to give it a shot like I usually do, one day. A big hell no on over priced ridiculous dlc of course.
I hope so...thats what a series is suppose to be... loved the first 2 SP stories/action movie.

That Kill Confirmed mode is a good one, it was a lot of fun in Sniper Elite. The only time a TDM type game became fun for me since it added so much to it. You'd end up with a graveyard of dogtags tempting people to come in but you'd be walking into a trap. No, snipers will LOVE that game. I'm sure COD will screw it up somehow.
Don't talk to me about awesome graphics if I can't take an RPG and make new ways to pass through the map by taking out walls. There's more to graphics now than pretty pictures and bullet penetration.
If they want to get me interested, they need to have every game type always offered in hardcore mode--conquest as well as that attack/defend bomb game type. And 10 minute timers on the no-respawn games like search and destroy. And let me run an 8 man team on party chat in all game types so I can talk to more than just 3 people. If they're going to penalize players and not allow private rooms with xp/rank unhindered, then at least let me get on with more friends at once like I can do in BF.
I may end up with this again, but probably just to play it solo in MP. I won't play TDM or HQ, and they gimp the best games in there. Oh well, I've still got COD4, I didn't trade that one. May just play that some, I doubt it's much different.

There’s a kind of domino effect to the game: you see someone running, you stop, aim, fire, and kill them. Almost instantly, someone behind you is shooting at you. You rarely have time to get to cover or to turn and shoot back, and so you die, too. By that point, there’s someone behind your killer, shooting at them. A few steps later, you’ve respawned, and killed someone, and are right back in the same position.
My MP 1st Impressions: It's the same ol game play... new maps are very nice, graphics are better then MW2, as they should be... but looks, sounds, and plays the same. And thats what I expect from a series... I don't want a big change like from Rainbow Six to R6 Vegas... I want the series to mature and grow but stay the same... so that is MW3's MP. IMO
If you don't like the CoD type gameplay then for god sake don't buy it... but you should also NOT be posting your opinion about it if not playing it.

Are there hardcore Demolition and Conquest games? If so I'd get this a lot sooner. I loved those game types, but hated not being able to play hardcore on there. I know there's no hope of a decent 5 minutes on search and destroy. COD always falls short on the games, but if I could at least get those 2 in hardcore I'd be pretty happy.

In other words, if you don't agree with Magnum, DON'T POST!! You know, for someone who should be encouraging discussion, you sure are a forum killer. For the record, it was you who started this thread and even titled it - are you ready for MW3. Well, apparently not everyone who visits this forum is looking forward to MW3.
We get it Magnum - you love this franchise....don't take it so personally that not everyone shares your affection!!

Actually you got that all wrong, and you sure the hell don't know me... I'm not to fond of the game except for the excellent single player mode story, story only... I buy and play the series to review it for SimHQ... sure I like the occasional madness of the MP when I want to run around and kill virtually.
What I can't stand, here in this thread or anywhere is thread hijackers who high jack someones thread with uneducated or unknowing opinions or stupid one-liner comments. If I read a thread I don't like or about a game I hate, you know what the mature thing to do is... leave... no not leave "this game sucks" or "this is garbage" before it's even out... just leave to another post.
One of my job descriptions here at SimHQ is to evoke thought and comment about games and upcoming games, why I started this post... you have a right to post an opinion, even a disagreement... all I ask is that you know what the hell your talking about when you post.

I have all the COD games and have played them all in MP, mainly my son did but hey. I won't buy MW3 as they are using the exact same engine as all the previous games with a few added perks, guns and maps. This is basically a £40 add-on.
I agree what you say Magnum that it's a series but if they want to bring out a 'new' game in the series then they should at least give the impression that they have put some work into it instead of churning out MW2.5. Even my son won't touch it as he said it is basically MW2 and a rip-off.
Not wanting to compare, but BF3 has come out with a totally new engine and even though the gameplay is similar to BFBC2 and MoH (2010) it at least 'feels' new and different and to me plays better than BC2.
I can agree with that post Mace... but I don't like a series making a drastic change either in gameplay, IE: Rainbow Six to R6 Vegas for example.
They did add some great features and tuned the game up alot... love the new kill streak choices, love that the noob tube is actually for noobs, lol, love the new and improved co-op missions, and love that the replay automatically saves to your HD (you can turn it off), love the replay tool...think ALL games should have that.
BUT Same but better graphics, same sounds, and same exact gameplay.
JMO, and not saying anymore otherwise I don't need to do a review.

I managed to play the first two and-a-half or so levels of the single player campaign late last night, and I'm a little disappointed. Everything seems right, but the level design isn't as good as MW1 or MW2 in terms of gameplay. This has been something I've noticed with all the non-IW developed COD games in the past.
The thing with the good ones was, though they were highly linear, they managed to develop the levels so that the only way you can go is the way you would go anyways if you could go anywhere. The push forward was natural and worked. I believe there are probably a lot of subtle elements to this, and it's surely very hard to get right. The odd numbered CODs never really got it right. Not that they were bad, just not as good.
So far, MW3 seems more along those lines. It's still big and loud and impressive, it just doesn't have the same je ne sais quoi so far.
Perhaps it will get better as I get further along (probably won't have time for a while, though, unfortunately).
I played it beat the campaign, I thought the first half of missions where better than the 2nd half.
I dabbled in MP for a bit and had fun, changed my playstyle from the last COD I played it was paying off immediately. well okay maybe not immediately given that I got shot twice before I even seen someone. but after that I settled in and started making some kills.
actually me too sharpe... I've played about 10 hours MP and getting tired of it already... was thinking the same thing today... it's fun, but enough is enough.

If this was facebook, I would totally be liking that post!
I will probably gamefly/redbox it and try it and be done with it.

For the record, it took me 4 and a half hours to beat the SP campaign without rushing. I think that's the thing that will keep me from buying future COD games. The novelty wore off a while ago, so unlike COD4, the intensity of the experience didn't make up for the brevity. While it's still a really cool, big budget explode-o-rama in the same league with its predecessors, I don't see the value anymore. This is the point after which more of the same, cool as that may be, won't cut it anymore.
I might try the MP at some point I suppose, but if my experience with previous versions is anything to go by, no matter how good it is, it will be wrecked by the quality and maturity of the players 95% of the time.

It's not only the novelty that has worn off for me, Aero, I've finished the campaign in about the same time as you have. With the story now finished I'd just say that enough is enough. Plenty of other stuff still on the horizon though.

I can't say that I ever found the overall plot very engaging or interesting in and of itself. It did, however, create nice scenarios for the levels, which were always well done and exciting. In that sense, then, the plot was pretty good, though the end of MW3 didn't really leave me with any sort of sense of closure or anything.
You know what I'd like? If they could release a similar length "episode" two or three times a year for $25. Presumably, this wouldn't work if they spent 2 years and how-ever-many hundreds of millions of dollars just developing MW3, but it would make for a cool episodic experience.
I thought the storyline jumped the shark at the end of MW2, but the MW3 storyline just seemed like a vehicle to set up cool scenarios here and there. I really liked the NYC sequence, even though it was a bit Hollywood.

Is it just me, or was the sequence of following the tanks in Germany the most frustrating experience in CoD history? It seemed as if you had to find the right path at the right time, and with a good amount of luck, to avoid the mobs that would shoot at you (and you alone) while the tanks didn't do much of anything. Oh, and the terrain would unrealistically impede your movement. I thought that figuring out and timing routes went out with 80s arcade games.

I found that ridiculous as well but what really got to me was the Final event

the Killing Markarov sequence. FFFFFFFF, Right Mouse, Left Mouse, as instructed, totally cheesed it up for me.
