I went to the USAF museum at Wright-Patterson AFB in Dayton, Ohio last week. Just sharing a sampling of the photos I took. The photos aren't earth-shattering, as it's a point and shoot camera (Canon SX110is) and it was in low light conditions. The museum is well worth a trip to see aircraft from all the eras of flight.

They could do with some natural light in there, or paint the ceiling white and point the lights on that. smile Nice shots on a very nice collection of aircraft. The lighting conditions do make for moody shots. Were you alone in there, or were you waiting till everyone was out of the picture? thumbsup

It was the middle of the day on a weekday, so there were not many people there. However, I did wait for the few people messing up my shots to get out of the way before I took them. Smile2

Anyone who comes to town and wants a guided tour should let me know next time.

The dark ceilings were done on purpose to make it look more like a museum and not just a hanger.

Cool shots Saghen! It's been a couple years since I was there, so it's great to see the XB-70 back in the museum side rather than the R&D side on base. Of course the R&D hangar is a bit more intimate when you have a USAF ID card when nobody is around on a weekday. wink

I've been getting updates from the museum about the Memphis Belle and how they're putting the wings on her now after refurb'ing. Can't wait to see her! I need to make another trip down there soon. I've been there a half a dozen times in the past 10 years and could still spend at least an entire day walking around. smile

Cool to see "Azrael" (AC-130) in the main museum too. Seen her many times in the R&D side.

The shot from the tail of the B-58 is very cool...one of my favorite jet/bombers!

Here's mine from the Pima Air and Space Museum in Tucson, AZ a couple months ago...

The Hustler was a real window breaker in it's day.

The B-58 is at 1:10

Nice Hollywood look at the B-36.

Back when dirt was new and I was but a young Plane Captain in the Marines we had one visit our line. I was the one assigned to service and launch it. It's a thing of beauty.

The 58 is a fine piece of work! It was before my time, but I did get to see the 106s and 105s right at the end of their service life.

Never seen a 105 fly, but 106's used to fly chase from Edwards when the (still new) B-1s would fly touch and go's at George AFB when I was there in the late 80s.

There is an F-100F (privately owned) that flies out of Ft Wayne a couple times a year...very cool to see it. smile

Would have loved to see Grissom AFB back in the day when Hustlers were based there, but all I've seen in my lifetime there are KC-135s, A-10s, and T-38s.

Sounds like a very cool experience to have had during your time in the service.
