I also wanted to change the retractable landing gear and bay door sounds, but for some strange reason they are in this 'KDA' format, which is not openable or editable in any program I've tried. I don't know what the 'ROTOR.KDA' or 'THUNK.KDA' sounds are, if they are indeed even sounds.
