General warning - The latest WHQL certified Nvidia drivers (version 285.62) mess up FSX, DCS:A-10c and LOMAC FC2 so far. Not exactly sure which component of the driver suite does the damage, but checking. Creative sound card owners will also experience problems and likely, no sound. IL2 1946 seems to be okay. Our in lab AI, Helios is still testing for me, so I will have more tomorrow when she finishes and compiles code. Right now, a big forewarning, install at your own risk and make sure to clone or image your install before fooling with this latest Nvidia mess. Will have more info tomorrow on Windows 32 bit and Vista/XP.

(Yes, I know this is not the computer section, but this is important enough to know that I am listing it in the community hall)

WD, I was playing FC:2 last night with WHQL 285.62, and everything was fine? Not a single problem. I have DCS: A-10c too and will check that tonight, haven't played it for a while. Can't check FSX as I uninstalled it, but I can confirm there is no problem at all in FC:2 on W7 64 bit at my end.

I'm not sure its that big a deal even if there are problems (which I'm not having, in any sim thus far, but still need to check Black Shark and A-10c). Its easy enough to do a clean install and put the old ones back?

I don't have a Creative card, but use a Creative headset which uses the drivers....Strange. Are there many people reporting this WD? A lot of folk are saying good things about it for Cliffs of Dover, cannot confirm as of yet. I'll report back later tonight with any findings.

EDIT: This is on a GTX 580, W7 Home Premium '6.1.7601 Service Pack 1 Build 7601'

Cheers.

Can't confirm this on my system. Both DCS:A-10C and FSX run just fine with the 285.62 drivers with my EVGA GTX 470 and Win7 64 bit.

I've got a GTX 480 and it was fine with A-10C last night using 285.62. YMMV.

This is why I wait before grabbing the latest drivers. What I've right now works for everything I currently play. I tried updating to a newer version a few months back and I had huge stuttering with iRacing. Rolled back to 270.XX and no problems, even BF3 runs (against its own advice, popup warning says to upgrade).

I don't update drivers any more unless I get a problem.

I have had this since yesterday and all games play fine, FSX, COD, L4D2, Mafia 2 and others. I always use the newest drivers and even try the betas. You can always go back if they are not working for you. The one I am waiting for and hoped it would be this one is the version coming with a frame rate limiter.

Limiter? Don't you mean the dynamic vsync, where it's on if you maintain 60fps or higher, but turns off when you drop below? It's not really a limiter (although practically I suppose it functions the same way).

Great, glad it is working for some. Feel free to post results or unusual problems here.

Still testing. I re-image any clients from a group of several servers and suddenly had a rash of multiple problems late last night. Still investigating .....

More details when I look at this during lunch time .... be back later today

both AMD and nVidia are both trying so hard to kiss EA/Dice/BF3's Butts by making the game run faster on their hardware, that they are messing up the drivers for all other games... lol
