tHIS morning all was well, flew my Bf110 on to the ground rather than in!. Then I had problems getting online and hit restore..now that works. Back to CoD it started and went to black grey screen. CTRE-Alt-Del led to small window says..Game Launcher not responding.Windows will look for problem. Steam says my updates are current. Have shut down and restrated several times. Have used "search" "Game Launcher" no response. I tried to find a Steam contact to ask for advice, no luck. TREND virus check said all problem/virus free. Is the launcher problem a Windows feature? Many thanks for advice.

Launcher.exe is the executable that runs CloD. You'll find it in Steamapps/common/cliffsofdover or something similar.
If you get the launcher.exe has stopped working message again then click on 'more details' copy and paste the resulting verbiage into notepad and post it here. Someone here should be able to help.

I went to Steam Forum and there are many complaining of game crashing today after Update yesterday.

Went to apps as you said and double clicked the Britsh roundel icon launch.exe. I got the yellow aiming insignia and about 3 seconds later the black screen turning to grey black. I use ctre- alt-del to exit and see white message "launcher not working". It was perfect this morning! What could affect the launcher files? Google had examples of that from last Spring with a Ubi launcher fix..I put that in the Ubi folder with no effect.

If there are many people complaining of the issue post patch then it will be hotfix city in a week or so, you'll get used to that around here. In the mean time there are a few things you can try, in no particular order:
1. Post lancher crash details as I said in my previous post, plus specs if you haven't already.
2. Verify game within Steam, right click Clod in the Steam library/properties/verify game cache
3. Delete your cache in 1c Softclub folder, its in your documents if you don't know.
4. If none of this works simply uninstall the game, delete the 1C Softclub folder(backing up your Confuser.ini of course to save your control settings) and reinstall.
5. If none of this works then the root of the problem probably lies in either Hardware, OS, or driver issues in which case the answer lies in 1. post your error messages.

I called CoD techie this AM. He walked me thru STEAM uninstall..reinstall and it is working well with some changes due to ne patch. I am starting a new thread about my Bf110 and ground loops. Thanks for replies, John

What issue are you getting Megaohm? My hotfix suggestion was pure speculation by the way, I don't think there is one coming now, when they come its usually within a day of a patch.

I have had this problem continuously since the last patch, however, a suggestion on the bannana forums to changing your compatibility mode from Vista / xp Service Pack 2 to Windows 7 Compatibility has worked for me and since changing this setting I have had no launcher failures.

Give it a try as it seems to have worked for me.
