Hadn't seen mention of this, but Reiza Studios is going to be releasing a DLC for Game Stock Car, the Brazilian stock car series developed on rFactor.

The DLC is basically a Formula 1 carset, called Formula Reiza and modeled with at least a Chevrolet engine according to a car render at VirtualR. I haven't seen too much about it other than a "spy" video and the render for the car model, but if it's anything like their Formula Armaroli mod for rF before they made GSC, it's got the potential to be a very good one. They claim to have had some F1 based series input from "insiders" and their physics interpretation of ISI's GMotor engine is the best I've seen overall. No word yet if/what it will cost, though but as a Formula 1 fanatic, I'm looking forward to it.

Reiza Studios is made up of the core (I believe) of some of the guys that made the GP79 mod for rF, which is arguably the best open-wheel mod ever made in rF's long history. The game GSC itself is only 30 bucks and while yes, it's basically only a mod for rF, it's complete with tracks and think of it as South American DTM in some ways, complete with tracks and there's more DLC coming for it as well in the form of other tracks I believe. It's really a well put-together package I think and was well worth the purchase.

Here's a link to Reiza Studios site for GSC and here's one for the Formula Reiza DLC info.

Thanks for the write up Steve. Reiza's Armaroli was exceptional and i don't doubt that GSC is up to the same standard. I've been meaning to pick it up for a while, then i ran out of time and subsequently got distracted with C.A.R.S rolleyes

They're also going to do a Formula Classic open-wheel DLC..not sure what era it's set at, but looks like late 70's/early 80's....there's LCD digital displays on the wheels, not sure when they came into F1.

I figure both of those and C.A.R.S will take care of my open-wheel "fix" for a while...at least until rF2 comes out.

My rFactor install just refused to work recently and with limited time now I will also put my interest behind Game Stock Car addons and enjoy testing C.A.R.S. developments. All untill rF2 is born.

I liked GSC main release, but those series are not exciting for me enough to do much racing. But their open wheelers may be real fun to try.

cool! I finally bought and downloaded GSC over the weekend. I grabbed and installed the Jerez track addon. I downloaded the two formula cars but I have not done anything with the file (probably because I'm not a big formula fan).

The game is very well done! I still need to tweak a few things to my liking.

I have to say that this two free DLCs are absolutely amazing. The feel, the immersion, the setup changes reactions are superb. Of course many of us are spoiled by C.A.R.S. graphics, but everywhere else this one delivers. No lag!!!!! :-)

The FF is IMO better than rFactor, and the graphics are flawless. I get 150-300 FPS in Jerez when testing. And same place, at standing start, starting from back of 24 cars grid (16 cars visible) I never dropped below 90. Amazing!

Online: I only tested session with one other car and we drove close to each other at Jerez, FPS never below 140!

The modern Reiza Formula car is based on 2010 F1. And they seem to be spot on as much as speeds are concerned. Fastest winter testing laptime in 2010 was 1:18,8. Here AI are topping qually at 1:19,3. And I am 3 seconds off them. Seems quite right to me :-)

There are two engineering manuals available here that made my brain twist when I tried to read it quickly. Fantastics read on certain aspects of vehicle dynamics. Tyres and suspention section was great read. And numerous tables on aero balance equotations looks like taken from Adrian Newey's assistant handbook.

http://www.racedepartment.com/game-stock...ion-theory.html

This is the best single seater experience I have ever had. The understeer feels like torture. The oversteer arrives in several levels, from 'oopps it was close, grils have you seen me there?' to 'oopps, this one is going to hurt'.

I only played with one seeting so far - engine brake map. And boy... you can feel the difference. No wonder real F1 plays so much with engine maps.

Untill rF2 arrives I am going to use this one as elementary setup school, as I have confidence this game is made right in this department.

quote from game creators:

"While we have had positive comments from F1 insiders, real data is not available to us but with experience in CART, GP2, GP3 and F3, we at Reiza feel we have a good understanding of the single seater racing car. Inevitably we will have made some assumptions that might make Andrian Newey frown a little bit, but the Formula Reiza represents our absolute effort in making a virtual car with F1 like characteristics"

Piotr, the story going around is that both Rubens Barrichello and Felipe Massa were "involved" with input of some sort to the Formula Reiza DLC...plus, they both seem to enjoy playing it online as well. Rubens made a statement before Korea that his wife wasn't too happy with his simming at times it seems.... biggrin

some more laps in

tyre temps are real rollercoster, you have o really push them EVERY SINGLE CORNER to keep them high enough, you make way in qually for AI car on flyer and the temps drop dramatically and you need several corners to bring them up... hahaha I now understand why F1 drivers complain about that in RL so often and why the outlap is so important

Ok, I'm in trouble now....I found a template for the Formula Reiza cars and I have an itch to paint something... biggrin

Thinking I might do some historical F1 liveries for 10 teams or so...of course a classic Ferrari red one, a McLaren Marlboro one and a Williams Rothmann's to start. Anyone got a request for a favorite F1 livery they they'd like to see?

Edit - Well, hell....seems the templates were made with the latest version of Photoshop and have some unsupported features that my older copy of Paint Shop Pro won't recognize, so I might not be painting after all unless I can find a .psd version that PSP likes.
