I'm swamped with work and real life, so can I hear how the sim is post-patch?

Cheers,

I had a quick fly in a Spit Mk2 and got the stutter back, the fields now have pastel colours, I get land shimmer and bad AA on external models and the gun sight no longer looks like it's reflected but drawn on.

It also sounds the same but the AI BF109 had the new sound. The .303 smoke looked better too.

On the whole though I wish I had stuck with the Beta patch which the game played brilliantly on.

the cockpits are brighter (easier to read the gauges) but looking not so good anymore. At least on my PC.

still lot of FM and CEM tweaking needed.
And the GUI of loadouts is still broken in singleplay for me.

more patches/months are needed IMHO

Spit 1A has the right prop, sound may be a bit better than the beta, colours are okay, maybe beta 1 was the best for that though, other than that it's much the same as the last beta as far as I can see.

I tried to start CloD up and got nothing. Worked fine yesterday with Beta Patch 2. Steam came up but nothing indicated a new official patch was being downloaded. Rebooted computer and the same thing. Any suggestions or ideas?

I was seeing good frames with the beta, but now I have to lower settings to medium to get steady 30+ fps, not a game killer in itself but a little disappointing.

Stutter is still there for me as well, has something to do with how they load in objects (trees and buildings). I turned the trees down to low and the buildings down to low, and it worked decently. I also have an issue where I'll be shooting and sometimes the guns get stuck on until I press the trigger again. Only a minor annoyance, except when you're trying to conserve ammo. The colors look great though.

If not for the new sounds, I honestly wouldn't have noticed any difference. For me the change to the landscape colours is minimal and there is no fps gain or loss. Nice to have the E4s in the hangar at last tho...

2 lockups in 45 mins, missing sounds...all the other improvements (which are great) mean nothing untill CLOD stops crashing.

Still no CO-OPs
No FSAA
FM and DM still way off.

will try reinstalling later to see if it fixes the lock ups.

Not sure if it will help you, but try doing that thing in Steam where you right click on Cliffs of Dover and select Verify Integrity of Game files (or something like that). I think it is under the Local Files tab. Maybe some of the beta patch stuff is left in your directory.

The issue is not p*ssy. The issue is monkey.

Maybe try clearing out your cache files just in case. Also I had to change my full screen to pseudo mode. I'm now getting better framerates than ever. Before I changed to pseudo I was getting fps in the low teens.
Who knows why...........not me that's for sure.

That's probably because even though they say it's SLI/CF implemented, which it might be because the game will work, it's not SLI/CF optimised. Pseudo takes off fullscreen and thus SLI/CF, at least it does for my CF setup. But I'm getting the same result - better frames when disabling CF.

Thanks for the impressions. So many negative comments that I'm convinced it will be great fun to get back into the sim! My experience was always that the amount of forum whining was inversely proportional to my enjoyment of CoD and I don't think that has changed... smile

Im a sceptic when it comes to CloD. That said after the new patch and a few SYN guys with me on REPKA realism server I can now see the potential of this game. Its by no means "AWESOME" as some would claim, but given the right server setup (which we were never able to get right ourselves) the game starts to draw you in.

There are some serious flaws that have been mentioned before. Hopefully these will be addressed and not sidelined in the pursuit of "Game #2".

My suggestion to you is d/l the patch...jump on REPKA...turn off grass...have a blast.

btw IM running the FXAA mod because I cant stand jaggies and it works great.

I had a go at shooting down some D0-17s over the channel. I didn't really notice that much of a difference really. It's just the same thing I've been doing since April.

Still going to be something I only play for 15-20 minutes every now and then when I get an itch to shoot at medium bombers or Stukas.

I refuse to buy a flight sim that I have no interest in playing, on the off chance that MAYBE someday they'll make the one I really want to play.

Looks like the latest beta patch to me. I like the improved terrain colours and the new sounds but the cockpit lighting now looks far worse than in previous versions. The cockpits were IMO one of the few really well done features of the sim but now they look just bland. Still no decent FSAA, no working radio comms, no weather system that's worth the name, I still see StarWars AI maneuvering and I still get horrible texture/object flickering over large cities. Oh, and the performance is still unacceptable on my rig.

At that pace the sim will be in an enjoyable state for my tastes in probably another half a year...

If you have been using the beta patch beforehand you wont see any difference, apart from the fact that the Spit MkIa now has a CS prop.
