Questions regarding your sim racing habits

I'm just curious about the sim racing habits of people here. I'd like to do more of it online than I currently do, but family interests limit my time and finding a regular group can be tough.
I know everyone here has an interest - otherwise we wouldn't be here. But I wanted to see if people were willing to describe their habits. I threw a few questions into a poll, but if you have any other input that'd be great to hear as well.

You missed one option that I would've picked: I only race online with a couple of people I know with AI cars filling out the field.
The Jedi Master

That's certainly an option I never would have considered, mainly because it's so rare that I see people do it.
I've considered it myself, but rarely find a sim where the AI is trustworthy enough.

I'm the same as Jedi except that I did race on some open public servers in F1 2010 and Dirt 2 because I wanted to get certain achievements.

I race offline, but don't think that online is silly - (I know you were only kidding ) - I admire people who can handle online life in general, and online racing in particular.

Not clear if you want iRacing to apply to this poll?
If so then I would qualify for: * I join open/public races on occasion (iRacing) * I race in a regular league (a race every 1 or 2 weeks) (iRacing SimHQ All American League)
If this is meant to gather info for the non-iRacing SimHQ stuff I don't want to skew the data.

It wasn't meant to be specific to any sim, so you're good Cool voted, thanks to iRacing, I do a lot more open/public races than I would do otherwise :-) Looking forward to racing much more with non-iRacing SimHQ'ers once rF2 or CARS comes out.

I picked the last option but not because i'm against online racing; its a matter of time available and the fact that I just started racing so my meager skills would not likely endear me to others in an online race. (Enjoying the heck out a Caterham on a road course like the Nordshleife (sp?), though...who cares if I come in last) Regards, Derek

I do some racing inthe public servers. I do most of my racing though in a "club", it does support league races but also has club races daily.

I didn't vote in the poll, but I'll add my .02 cents.
I used to race in the SimHQ races in '06 with rFactor. Some of the best and most intense times of my online experiences. The folks I raced with were excellent and I thoroughly enjoyed myself. It sure beat the experiences I had when racing Nascar 4 online. On the SimHQ servers and races, the folks were there to race and not intentionally crash folks. My hats off to those folks and I hope to race you all again soon once I get back online with it. There were/are some great drivers here.

I picked the last option but not because i'm against online racing; its a matter of time available and the fact that I just started racing so my meager skills would not likely endear me to others in an online race. (Enjoying the heck out a Caterham on a road course like the Nordshleife (sp?), though...who cares if I come in last) Regards, Derek I'd think if you can throw a Cat around Nordshleife you'd be just fine with what we generally offer online here! It's hard to imagine people don't want to try online racing...maybe because I get so bored with offline racing and love the real competition and have been racing online now exclusively for years. I understand if you don't have the bandwidth strength, but I hear a few folks saying they don't think they have the skill yet to hop on the SimHQ server and give it a go. We offer up a lot of just for fun racing like the Skodas and that would be a great place to get your feet wet because if you're not banging bumpers and doors with the Skodas...you're not racing. The folks who race on SimHQ servers are generally more than willing to help out a new guy, and wanting more competitors we understand that some of the new guys might spin somewhere more often, but that's okay, and we want to help out. Heck, I've been racing here since '05 but you couldn't tell after a few of our last events where I couldn't finish a race without wrecking out. I win some, podium some, limp home on some, and DNF some...but it's all fun. I'm not putting anyone down or anything for racing offline, it would just be cool to get some of you online to share the fun.
