Flyboy offered the idea to be organised in NOVEMBER 2011 a SECOND ANNUAL Comanche Gold MEETING ONLINE.
It can include ONLINE MULTIPLAYER - MELEE and COOPERATIVE Games, and a Forum about custom maded new Missions, Mods, Manuals and tools for the game.
We can use this topic as a Checkpoint about this idea.
UPDATE FROM 06th of NOVEMBER 2011 NOW THE GAME IS TESTED ONLINE AND FULLY OPERATIONAL AND FROM 06 TO 13 NOVEMBER I WILL BE ONLINE HERE WATCHING THIS TOPIC IN SimHQ FORUM AT 10AM UTC(GMT) TO 12AM UTC(GMT) AND AT 06PM UTC(GMT) TO 08PM UTC(GMT) FOR A TALK ABOUT NEWS AROUND COMANCHE GOLD OR FOR A ONLINE GAMING. THE ONLINE SESSIONS ARE OPEN FOR ALL! UFO :-)
In brief Last year we had:
- Many ONLINE MULTIPLAYER - Headtohead and Cooperative Games,
Yes, to second what ufolev said, I did suggest to him that we perhaps aim for another get-together in CG multiplayer.
I don't know, it's just that it's nearly that time of year again and the weather is cold outside so I want to be inside flying something - with friends if possible!
I'm pretty rusty - but I support the idea (I might even participate if I can get things to quiet down enough)...
I am in the same usy" boat as Avimimus, I support the idea and will do everything in my power to be ready to participate in November. Thanks for the invite.
To play CG online you will need to have Windows 98 or XP and Kali (registered if possible). There is a tool to allow connection on Windows Vista/7 but that requires port forwarding via Windows and on some systems requires you to turn off your router firewall - which I'm sure you wouldn't agree on. Last year we played in Windows XP via Kali, as that has a built-in text chat function and at the time, was the only way to connect (as it emulates IPX). Windows XP via Kali is my recommended and most tested method.
Me or someone may need to get you all up-to-speed before any big events, as there can be hiccups along the way as the multiplayer in CG can be rather picky and is not that robust in terms of connectivity and bandwidth usage.
But please don't let this put any of you off, just understand that it's an old game that isn't done justice by its rather 'sloppy' multiplayer implementation and disregard for Windows 7.
For the Newcomers - This is a brief Video Presentation of all 8 Comanche Gold Multiplayer HEADTOHEAD WarZones: - Red Rock Mesa, - Cool Desert Night, - Snow Island, - Meadow Land, - Wild Wetlands, - Storm Troopers, - River Runner, - Frozen Free-For-All.
Well, it's coming up to November but I can't say for sure when I will be ready for playing CG online as I have quite a lot on right now.
I am also working on my real Comanche website and it's taking quite a while to add all the content and make it like I want it... being a perfectionist it's taking twice as long!
Comanche Gold ONLINE MULTIPLAYER between DEO and UFO
A TEST GAME on WindowsXP via KALI NET on 01 november 2011
This is a SPLIT VIDEO - 2 IN 1 - on the upper side of the video is DEO and on the lower side of the video is UFO The video is from start to meeting point for each player.
There are only 3 steps to run Comanche Gold Multiplayer Online on WindowsXP with the Kali program via Kali Server
1. Install IPX/SPX protocol on WindowsXP
2. Download and install trial Kali program on WindowsXP and connect to Kali Server
3. Time coordination - All players need to revert their local time to universal time coordinated(UTC) former GMT to make a online game session - all together on the same time online.

Thanks to ufolev for meeting online recently with the intention of playing a few test rounds with me. But, due to me also recently switching ISPs and getting a new router - neither Kali or DC99's TCP/IP program seem to like it. Kali turns up a bunch of NAT port conflict error messages which I have no idea of fixing and even with my Windows and router firewalls turned off (to much disgust) the TCP/IP method didn't work for me either. We each tried both hosting and joining, but nothing.
So, with regret, even though it was my idea to get back together online again, I'll have to say "I'm out."
