Hi Mike,
glad to hear about this "cosmetic surgery" of the 110. Thx guys for all your efforts! The earlier Bf 110s featured smaller rudders because of their weaker engines.
The 110 I was talking about was 3 U +
Z T, thus from 9./ZG 26. So nothing for IM...

But I´ve got 3 U +
C S for you - as background of a desert Fiat G.50.

Caption (K.Merrick´s "Luftwaffe camouflage and markings Vol.1")is as follows:
"Bf 110s also arrived in North Africa in full European camouflage, and underwent a similar process of repainting as time and battle conditions allowed. This Bf 110D of 8./ZG 26 wore 71/02/65 and as with the Bf109s in the previous photographs, both types carried only the fuselage tactical marking of a white band..."
The colour pic IMO shows a rather brownish tinge for the camo colours so I would also agree with an interpretation like for 3U+ZT:
"Bf 110C 3U+ZT was captured near Derna. An eyewitness account of this aircraft described it as having two-tone brown upper surfaces. The camouflage is rather dark and may have been in 79 and 80; the latter, when sprayed in thinned down form to produce the heavy side mottling, produced a brownish colour effect". IMO this might fit for 3U+CS as well.

So you might be able choose between a dusted standard camo, a thinly oversprayed standard camo or the proposed 79/80 combination

Certainly you know the set of propaganda shots with 3U+KS flying over the Med together with SB+GD. SB+GD still wears its factory code but most certainly was assigned to 8./ZG 26...
Btw, did you use this list?
