I think I am going to give this a shot for my Warthog stands...

Anyone try this or something similar?

Similar, but different in some key ways. Concrete filled, instead of sand.

The sand is nice for sound isolation (which isn't really a concern for the HOTAS). The concrete is plenty heavy, which you do want, plus you wouldn't need to mess around with all-thread, etc.

Thank you for the link.

Unfortunately, I am not a handy man so, I do not even know what all thread is. The speaker stands seem easier to me then that setup. That throttle stand requires more wood work. I have neither the skills nor the tools. For the speaker stands all I need is 4 12x12 pieces of wood that HD or Lowes can cut for me. Then I just need the drill bits for the bolts.

I do like that setup but, it's a little beyond my capabilities right now. The same reason I have abandoned by rocking chair/flight seat project that was inspired by a thread here.

I would like to give it a shot in the future but, I want to get something quick and easy up now.

Thanks again!

I have my Cougar throttle on my tower case on the left and my stick on a speaker stand.

Works well.

Complete smile

I filled the tubes with quickcrete. That was the worst part of the job.

Mounted the throttle to the board with frame offset clips that you can find in arts and crafts stores. Hat tip to my wife who was very helpful through all of this. She had some great ideas and helped me get around some issues I had smile

There they are. I reduced the height on the throttle after this pic to bring it down closer to my lap. Gonna do the same with the stick tonight. I tried a little FC2 and was very pleased w/ the results.

Now to get a new chair smile
