I assume this does not apply to Darren and that he has automatic weight added at the beginning? smile

I'm going to be away from home next weekend but plan to have bunches of fun with the Skodas on the next two races (and the practices for them)

That's correct. Darren starts with an additional 400 kg and 10 kg is removed each time he loses a race. WinkNGrin

I wasn't practicing, really! I just had to go in and see where the heck Hitchin was again. smile Holy cow, I remember some crazy fun runs there. Just sight seeing (really!) I lost my hood, fender, and a wheel about every other lap. biggrin

Ok, honestly I put in about 10-12 laps before getting out with about 4-5 of those laps damaged beyond repair and restarting from the pits. I won't go back in until Wednesday night. smile

LMAO! man, you guys are harsh, it must be someone else's turn to tow the hot dog trailer!
Hitchin Hight Street isn't exactly Monaco but is does have a certain charm and i least i can pop into Wilkinson's for some body filler and gaffer tape. It's even open on Sunday which is handy smile

Oh, and if anyone knows where the dentist is then drop me a PM. After 25 laps on these cobbles i'll be needing some work done!

Just tried to get on the server to make sure the install works and the server told me "Server Time OUt" it usually says "session closed" if someone is racing, or won't even allow me to enter the password if the server is down, so that's odd... I know I'm getting the password correct...

But I had a quick look at the track offline and it looks like a fun little track...

MAN!!! That was FUN tonight!!! I haven't had that much fun racing in a long time. I mean racing is fun anyway, but Skodas at Hitchin...insane! I have to hand it to the engineers who built the iron fence on the left at T1. I kept turning in a bit too soon and hit it a number of times...and it doesn't give! wink I still can't stop smiling, and I didn't even finish a single race. Closest I came was the 10 lapper. I had suspension damage so every time I turned the wheel to the left the back end wanted to come loose to the right. Going into the courtyard on the last lap it did just that. I started to loop so I gassed it hard and snapped right into the wall...and the car was dead. biggrin

It would be awesome to have 20 or more drivers there. driving

I have to agree. With this mod loaded the game should be called Ffactor. F for fun cos this mod delivers fun in spades! It really is more fun than a barrel of monkeys. I had a ball racing these tonight and even came close to a win lol. Bigger grids in this mod would be terrific so roll up and get into the funnest series in Rfactor. these cars are so easy to drive you can't not enjoy the experience!

Hitchin is totally brutal and utterly hilarious for so many reasons. I can't remember when i last had so much fun in sim racing. This mod is the mutts nuts and our combined exploits put the wacky races to shame. At some points i could barely drive in a straight line for laughing. Simply awesome, thanks all. cheers

Can't wait until Sunday! boing

I haven't run the summer Skoda series. Is fixed setup easy on tyre wear? I remember from practicing this mod that tyres were fudge after 5 laps :-)

Piotr, tire wear is only relevant if all four corners stay on the car. WinkNGrin

At Hitchin, don't think its an issue. Next week at Mid-Ohio it probably will be multi-tire replacements.

Well another successful collection day! At ths rate, I will soon be in a position to run my own skoda series when I put all these parts together. Please note that this will be a closed series open only to old scottish geezers over sixty with the first name Stewart. (now I will have an outside chance of winning one0. lol

I'll be taking some of those parts back Mr Forgie...I believe a good amount of them are mine! wink

For the love of racing...I spent two online race days with multiple races each day only to finish one...yes one...race! To my incredible testament of skills, that one race I DID finish I grabbed the final podium position in P3! YEAH!

Incredible fun no matter how many times I wrecked out or got wrecked out. This was one of those courses/weekends where you can let it all hang out and JUST HAVE FUN! Oh boy did I! A couple times I'd get bumped and spun into a wall and think for just a split second...DAMN!...then I'd laugh it off and watch the carnage from the paddock monitors. Some great racing and I hope we can do something just for the fun of it again soon!

Mid Ohio coming up Wednesday and next Sunday. More serious racing...but these are still Skodas and are just plain fun to drive. After all the rear wheel drive super cars we drive, I need to get back to remembering how to drive a front wheel drive car like the old Snot Rocket Dodge Neon I used to drive in the SCCA in real life. wink

The server will be offline while tech continues their investigation of the disconnection problems.

I will post in here when the Skodas are back online with Mid-Ohio, but we will be okay for the scheduled races Wednesday night at 8 PM eastern.

You weren't too bad yourself DD!

Unlike Hitchin where I think I finished a grand total of 1 race, I actually finished every race this time, and got a win that's been evading me for some time...heh. Even the 12 lapper I had to pit twice because I missed my line and bent my steering, and still finished on the lead lap...in last...but I still finished. wink

I actually CAN say I've driven at Mid Ohio for real once. I volunteered to do corner work for an SCCA race weekend and was the yellow flag guy in that corkscrew weird corner after the long back straight. I got to drive my Jeep Grand Cherokee two laps, not very fast, to get to my station and then back to the paddock after the races. biggrin I may have hit 50mph on the straight...lol.

I thought this might be a little more challenging for most folks, especially the ones who said they'd never driven here, but I was pleasently surprised that everyone tonight was holding their own pretty well and everyone was very competitive. Fun racing tonight!

Damn that was a blast tonight... Some great fun racing mid pack was had by me tonight, I just couldn't get it hooked up in qualy for the feature and spent most of the time playing catch up... Was a blast fighting through to 5th in the end... But there was some epic battles for the lead during all the races... damn...

Some of us ran some laps on the Nordschleife and damn that's going to be fun... Such a pleasure to drive on and these cars are very stable around here, even without their body shells lol... I managed to put 1 clean lap in and did a 8:28.9, I'd suggest someone else could knock 20 seconds off that as I wasn't on it all the way around the track and made some time costing errors... But starting to get the flow of this track is a amazing feeling in any car, no matter how small the engine...

Yep, that was great fun! Occasionally even the most serious of sim racers need to jump to the Skodas Gone Wild side. smile

After next week we'll put them back in a box until probably January, the we'll have the 2012 "Son of a Skoda" series.

Even though the 800-lb gorilla rF2 looms, we will still host rF1 racing, and the Skodas will be a part of it.

Here are the replays, results from the 6 Mid-Ohio races today.
http://simhq.net/downloads/motorsports/rfactor/SimHQ_2011_SSTCS2/Skodas_MidOhio.zip

As Pumbaa mentioned, a few drivers stayed around for the launch of Green Hell. Based upon the results of that testing:

1) Use the "Ring - Touristenfahrten" event.

2) Use the version of the ring listed in the first post of this thread.

3) Please check your connection to the server before Wednesday evening. For those of you running next Sunday but not Wednesday, please also check before Wednesdays race.***

4) We should figure 15 minutes for a 1 lap race around Green Hell. Plan on 2 1-lap races; 1 2-lap race; and the feature race will be 4-laps.

5) A special wild card for Green Hell races EXCEPT the 4-lap feature.

Any driver that:
- has a flat tire(s)
- or loses a wheel(s)

Then...
- drives back to their pit
- under their own power
- before the last entrant with 4 wheels and tires crosses the finish line

...wins the race.

For the 4 lap feature all wild cards are tossed out so it'll be a "normal" wink race.

*** NOTE: One rFactor server will run for a while yet as we continue server integrity and settings testing. After Wednesday nights Skoda races, I will switch the server over to SCES Road Atlanta. The server will stay on Road Atlanta until we are done on Sunday with the 45 minute test race (starting at 11 AM eastern time). Then the Skodas will run at Green Hell at their usual scheduled time of 12 PM eastern.

I totally enjoyed the Skoda racing at Mid OH today, quite a blast, Some great racing with many of you out there fer sure. There were a few opening laps when we were in a swarm and fighting for lines thru twisty Mid OH. I'm gonna pass on the 12+mile lap lenght of next wknd but these regular road circuit tracks are a blast for close, fixed setup racing like this.
Bring it on, I'll be watching for more, thanks for hosting

Don F
Seattle (9 to 10am racing for me today, thats OK I suppose..)

Any Skoda drivers who do not want to sit for a 2.5 hour endurance race, but don't mind helping us load test the server, are welcome to run the 45 minute test race at Road Atlanta prior to Sunday's Skoda races at Green Hell.

Don, it was great to see you out there Sunday. Some awesome racing, and a grid of 16 drivers was more than I've seen for quite some time.

Sunday was cool too because I didn't get wrecked by Saghen. (Just kidding!) neaner We looked like we tried to wreck each other out a few times during one race, but we were nose to tail, door to door, for an entire race and it was a freakin' blast! Funny thing was, we were mid pack and having an awesome race that could have made the TV highlights. biggrin Somehow Saghen and I always end up together...and that's okay!

I'll be a mule driver for a stress test at Road Atlanta. Thinking the non SCES guys should all drive the Porsche Mule. biggrin

I just had a look at trying to change the gear ratios on these Skodas... And they are locked... So looks like we'll be buzzing down those long straights letting the damage be the difference maker instead of the draft...

I found the Mid Ohio set up very stable so I suggest we just stick to that for this one... This fun is so much fun to drive, but being in a pack will be a lot of fun to say the least biggrin

Great fun again last night. And what a great race the 25 lapper was. thumbsup I didn't see a lot of body parts around the track, so it looked like it was a pretty clean one for all of us.

But starting to get the flow of this track is a amazing feeling in any car, no matter how small the engine...

I don't think it can be done that much quicker around there with the Skoda. Any thing around 8:30 is quick here.
Maybe if we let Darren have a go without his extra 400kg balast? biggrin

I'll ask. Are we okay with the Ring and these cars? If the redlining gets to you, I'll throw out Adelaide as an alternate, then save Green Hell for a race coming up I had in mind with faster GTs.

Any of you who run the Skodas, please vote.

Change track for the Skodas?
Only one choice allowed (14 total votes)
Stay with Green Hell and let them redline - 5 (36%)
I'm game for Adelaide and the Skodas! - 9 (64%)
Voting on this poll ends: 10/26/11 04:00 PM

We will not move off of Green Hell until the polling is done. Besides, you're not practicing are you? wink

Oh tough question.... Green Hell this week, or later with GT cars... And then you go and make it harder by making Adelaide the alternative... You evil evil man Doug... wink

Should I make it even tougher Pumbaa by saying Green Hell with the Aussie Supercars? That is what I was thinking. Well, Aussie Supercars at Green Hell, the new Virtua_LM Sebring we never used, and Vitus for a 3 event mini series....

These are fun at the ring in a 'man vs track' kind of way. Not sure how close the racing would be though, On the basis we get to run green hell at a later date i'll go for Adelaide. I've not raced there very often and it should be a real blast in the Skoda's. smile

Is there a mod edit that can be done to extend the gearing?
(I also wish there was one for the GTR2 Historic DTM mod)

If so, "Wha-oh-oh-oh-oh-ooh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh" , bring on the Ring.

Well guys, there is one other alternative. Run both.

1 lap race at Green Hell ~ 15 minutes
2 lap race at Green Hell ~ 30 minutes

3 lap race at Adelaide ~ 10 minutes
6 lap race at Adelaide ~ 30 minutes
12 lap race with quali at Adelaide ~ 45 minutes

Done in our usual 2 hour block.

Please don't do any practice. That ruins everything. biggrin

Unfortunately I've got to miss the races tonight, but I'll be there sunday...

I love the idea of running both tracks within the time... that'd be awesome..

I just did a first try on the tourist version of Nordschleife and completed the first fast lap in 8:42 minutes. The sixth gear is definitely too short, however it is still possible to race there and it is some fun.
As Darren said, racing at Nordschleife is more 'man versus track', but I think this becomes even worse with faster cars, because it gets more difficult to drive around this track without crashing. Of course this depends on what cars actually will be used.

The Green Hill Nurb really is pretty darn fun, just goes and goes. Hoping it includes the Neurburg F1 course so at least can drive that part efficiently, know it well frm BROS Meganes thrashing (Slumming,I know, but SO CONVENIENT). Green Hell Nurb not so conducive to close racing, so am glad Adelaide is on slate for that reason too.

Lookn fwd to Sunday AM (USA West). The Nurb is first hour, then Adelaide? Which of those 10 or so Nurb tracks in that biggest ever track install (250+ mb!) will it be?

"Ring - Touristenfahrten"

~ 1 hour Green Hell
~ 1 hour Adelaide

We had some drivers having computer problems Wednesday night, and even waiting for them and 3-4 sorts of the grid, we got done right on time. I probably can tighten the schedule a bit more for Sunday so there will be less wait between races.

Sorry to say I'm going to have to bow out of Sunday's race fest. My little bro's wife just had her first baby and we're all going to my dad's house for the day on Sunday to meet the new little fellow. Also to see my little bro before he heads back to Iraq since he's home for two weeks.

When you see your little bro and punch him in the arm (or whatever brothers do to greet eachother), give it a little extra zing for me wink

Much respect and congrats on the new nephew.

Will do and thanks DD! He already spent a year in the Army in Iraq. Now he's an unarmed civvie contracting with KBR in Iraq for the past year. Maybe I can talk him into quitting that job since we're pulling everybody out and he'll be losing any real security that was there. I hear Bahrain is nice...lol. I have a couple buddies working for Lockheed there now. smile

Thanks to everyone who supported this series!

The Skodas will return again in January on new tracks, and a beefier car configuration. As announced today, Blythe Engineering has created a Skoda Xtreme package that provides a 7-speed gearbox, additional grip, and an additional 60 bhp. The new Skoda Xtreme series will run in January 2012 (rFactor 1) as the "Son of a Skoda" Series. More news available in late December.

No additional grip i'm afraid, just a 7 speed box and extra 60HP. Initially designed for the Ring but great fun everywhere biggrin

I’m liking the sound of that biggrin

BTW, sorry for using Road Atlanta practice as my own personal skating rink today. I went astray on turn one and caused an inordinate amount of chaos while I was flailing around. I think you were caught up in that as well as Arthur and Pierre.

No worries DD, It's all part of the fun. Normally i might have avoided you but I was pretty tired after a long race yesterday so my reactions were a bit slow.

Glad to hear more TinTop moderate powered momentum racing will return (S K O D A S). Very fun today in Adelaide feature, holding off M Koch, Henny and another thru 2nd half. Guys, perhaps I was a tad slower so you stayed glued to my Hiney but I think I played fair and just kept the race line which was great fun thru the variety of turns @ Adelaide. If it was points racing though, would have to address widening the line by going outside the curbs. All did a bit of it, no worries for fun type event

SeeYa next tm
